Joe Joyce is coming !

Post by ValMar »

Honestly, I do not know a lot about amateur boxing, but I read and heard about Joyce as an extremely gifted HW.
What do you think about his chances ? Is he better than Daniel Dubois ?

Joe Joyce is 31. Daniel Dubois just turned 20. If they fought today, Joyce would probably win. If they met in their primes, 98% chance that Dubois would beat Joyce. This is like comparing Tyson Fury and David Price. Lots of people claimed David Price would rule the heavyweight division, and that Tyson Fury was afraid to fight him. Well, when Fury was 21 and Price was 26, Price may have beat Fury head-to-head. But by the time Fury actually hit his prime, he was 20 times as good as Price ever was or ever will be.

Remains to be seen how good Dubois becomes. Despite the hype I haven't been super impressed, though he's obviously got loads of time to improve. Joyce looks decent, but I have a feeling he'll top out at EBU level.

He did indeed get a schooling, though I think he improved after that bout. Usyk was a WSB stud and also comfortably outboxed 3x and current world SHW champ Majidov, who is the last man to beat AJ.

Usyk would do the same to Joshua. Joyce is fine.

I agree with Lackeos. Joyce is a welcome addition to the scene but he was completely dismantled by the smaller man. I can't see him doing that to Joshua even though I accept Usyk is a rare talent. Joshua is much quicker than Joyce and his jab would serve him better against Usyk than Joyce's did. In my opinion of course.

After Klitschko's and Fury's retirement, I consider Usyk the most dangerous potential Joshua's opponent. I don't claim Usyk would defeat Joshua, but it might be a competitive match......

Usyk doesn't really have the power to hold AJ off, and he's not so hard to hit that Joshua (significantly faster hands than JJ) wouldn't catch up to him eventually. I think Usyk would have a great chance of beating a guy like Parker though.

Let's see Uszy sort out his business at CW first...the potential is there for him to be the top cruiser since Holyfield.

Usyk wouldn't last 8 with Joshua.. He'd weigh 210 or 212 and AJ is just too big, sharp, and heavy handed.. Usyk would do well for 4 rounds and AJ takes over

I don't agree with you, Usyk is so skillful. Anyway, I feel that he is wasting his prime at CW, he ought to move up as soon as possible.
