IF Conor McGregor will decide to fight GGG/Canelo winner, it would make $ense?

In this day and age bro, you gotta admit, anything sells. It doesn't really take much at all to drum up interest in a big way. That's how boring boxing has become anymore. How else do you expect the McGregor fight blew away all records in viewership and distribution?Covfefe wrote:Rubbish.HomicideHenry wrote:Because, since time immemorial... The amount of fights that would have been made to cash in on this alleged English-Irish thing is massive, facts are Irish boxers sell better in the States. That's why most of them go there, Michael Conlan has just turned over, first two fights in the States, do you think he'd be doing that if he could make the same money over here?HomicideHenry wrote:In this day and age bro, you gotta admit, anything sells. Duddy did it, Lee did it, and even Collins tried it. There's an in built following over your way, even Hatton tried to tap into that Irish support over there, it wasn't by accident his first big stateside fight was in Boston.
I'm not trying to argue for no reason, there just is no big sell on Irish-English over here. Unless if they were both top of their game pros. They didn't even try that angle for Frampton-Quigg. It just doesn't matter here anymore.

I think it would sell well and lots of people would buy it. At the end of the day Conor was losing against the best boxer of our era and even he last 10 rounds in there with Floyd. Oscar or Loeffler would jump at this opportunity in a second.

Then a showdown with GGG, Canelo or Pacquiao could be marketable. But definitely not at present time.
Mcgregor had zero power. So khans big weakness being chinny is mostly neutralised.
Add into the fact that Khan is naturally more attacking than Mayweather, has quicker hands. Mcgregor wouldn't know what's hit him in that match up
Let's get realistic... 1% any of these hypotheticals actually happen
Khan would beat him easy - but I would bet Khan would love the fight.
He sold his chin Oscar for Canelo, he took that cheque knowing he finishes the fight flat on his back imo - so earning even more money against a novice would be a dream ticket.
I think the UFC are desperate to get McGregor back in the Octagon. Not sure how much he makes there, but i reckon McGregor could probably sell out a stadium in Dublin for Malignaggi, and if he won convincingly, then they could sell out Wembley for Kahn.

This scenario sounds more plausible than mine.Ricky_ wrote:Ossyrules wrote:Khan would crucify mcgregorHomicideHenry wrote:It'd only sell IF McGregor defeats a credible boxer first. Re: IF Conor McGregor will decide to fight GGG/Canelo winner, it would make $ense?
Yep, there's enough of misinformed MMA fans that probably think McGregor would have a chance because he won more rounds against Floyd than Canelo and that GGG doesn't have as good as defense as Floyd. And McGregor is bigger than any names either could fight.Enlightened-One wrote:So you reckon there would be genuine interest from mainstream casual fight fans to see a fighter that was walked down, dominated and then stopped by a forty year old past-his-prime welterweight that hadn’t competed for two years, would be regarded as a genuine threat to physically bigger and far more powerful middleweights like Canelo and GGG?apollo creed wrote:I mean he would probably get KTFO but could he make more money than in a big UFC fight ?

Unless UFC restructures their entire payscale, he'll always make more money in boxing. I don't think the UFC has ever paid out 5 million for a single fighter.Ricky_ wrote:Ossyrules wrote:Khan would crucify mcgregorHomicideHenry wrote:It'd only sell IF McGregor defeats a credible boxer first. Sure they have. There is nothing in boxing that could touch his earnings going back to MMA. Now he can but prior to the Floyd fight, he was their top star and wasn't even getting Cotto type purses. As far as disclosed purses, Mcgregor probably hasn't gotten 5 million in a single fight. He only got 3 mil for UFC 202.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Sure they have. There is nothing in boxing that could touch his earnings going back to MMA. Disclosed purses are just the tip of the iceberg. He made 10 million or so in his last couple. No boxing fight would pay him that now.
Re: IF Conor McGregor will decide to fight GGG/Canelo winner, it would make $ense?
He brings MMA fans to boxing but can't do it as much vice versa. You had MMA fans who have never bought a boxing PPV purchasing the Mayweather Mcgregor. I'm sure not as much boxing fans would purchase a Mcgregor UFC fight. McGregor would be the A side because he also brings in MMA fans which is why he could be the top selling guy in combat sports now that Floyd is gone. Canelo and Pacquiao would get him more than 10 million.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Disclosed purses are just the tip of the iceberg. He made 10 million or so in his last couple. The majority of people that bought Floyd/McGregor aren't boxing or MMA fans.

Lol that PAC would get him 10 million. Manny doesn't make that anymore. That fight would be lucky to do 200k.

would MCGREGOR make more money fighting
HORN or NATE DIAZ ?
Re: would MCGREGOR make more money fighting
Horn. I think McGregor makes more money in boxing than MMA.
Re: would MCGREGOR make more money fighting
Diaz easily over Horn.
Re: would MCGREGOR make more money fighting
Not after he loses 2 fights in a row he doesn't, and I'm sure he'd be paid more for an MMA fight than he will for his 2nd Boxing match. If you guys are so eager to see Conor lose again just keep following his MMA career. You won't have to wait too long.RScarf1 wrote:Horn. I think McGregor makes more money in boxing than MMA.

Manny doesn't but Mcgregor now as a boxing draw would. That fight would do at lease a 600K just because people want to see what would happen.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Lol that PAC would get him 10 million. Manny doesn't make that anymore. That fight would be lucky to do 200k.

MacGregor is best staying 0-1.
For the money he made fighting FW its not worth it, he needs to go back to learning how to box, he can't beat top 50 fighters as it stands so would need a dozen learning fights (2 years) if he wants to challenge and win against top 5 types.

HE'LL NEVER WIN Against Top 20 types. Let alone Top 5 types.Lennox wrote:MacGregor is best staying 0-1.

Well, any McGregor UFC fight does over a million. So, like I said, no boxing fight is worth his time now. I certainly couldn't care less what would happen. MMA is the bigger sport, he's better at it, the UFC would have to let him box, just doesn't make sense or cents.IKSRTFO wrote:Manny doesn't but Mcgregor now as a boxing draw would. UFC fights sell more but their fighters don't get more to scale compared to boxing.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Well, any McGregor UFC fight does over a million.
