He's really trying to be diplomatic. But the statement "it's Fwank's money" says to me that he is gald it's not his money.
Good interview, his talk of Tyson should be fighting AJ was valid if you haven't seen Tyson in the (substantial) flesh for 2 years

Hughie on Talksport this morning, training almost done and looking forward to the fight and knocking Parker out in the 4th round. Then going on to unify the heavyweight division.

Regarding tbe fight being on Youtube, Hughie says its 'The future'

Huey does realise that Parker has one of the best chins in the top 10 HW??
And Huey is a bit of a feather fist comparitivley as a HW??
Parker took a slightly out of prime Kali Meehan's best shots until Joe KO'ed him, and Kali could punch...
Ah Huey, I could be wrong, but I don't think he has the power to do it unless he breaks Joe late. A 4th round KO seems a little ambitious bless him

Peter has done it his way from the start with Huey. Mick is getting slated but to me he's just the patsy. Peter has more or less paid for every opponent Huey has had in his quest to get his son a shot at the title. Building a profile has been unimportant, the title is everything. Once he's won it, if he wins it, the money may come but for now it's all about positioning for a place in history. I respect that.

I was thinking about that the other day. Maybe Peter's got a ton of cash squirilled away from back in his gangland days and bankrolls everything with Hennessy as a sort of "legitimate front." I know it's far fetched but it makes more sense than if this is Hennessey's genuine way of making money. Like you said, he's paid for all of Huey's past opponents so maybe he's paying for this one. Perhaps Huey doesn't even have a purse at all?

Time will tell, but it may work out to be a shrewd move from the Fury camp to get the fight over here. It is a fight that does look to have a good chance of going to the scorecards to me (UK bookies current odds put it around 55% chance of going the full 12 rounds). Hughie is going to have a much better chance of winning a decision in the UK as compared to in front of a fanatical New Zealand crowd. Maybe Hughie has chosen to forgo some or all of his purse in order to get home advantage and a better chance of winning the title?

If it was all about title shots and not money, they would have accepted the Joshua fight. If he'd won he would have been a huge name overnight.

The sums only add up if Hughie is getting next to nothing. Hiring Manchester Arena plus paying Parker what would be expected based on purse bids is simply not going to be covered by a Youtube deal and the clearly poor ticket sales.

And the Joshua fight would have given Hughie the chance to do that.

Probably not that many people that are even aware Parker has a belt anyway. Hopefully Parker is able to perform like he's at least a deserving contender this time. Of late he's barely looked like a fringe contender. Any belt is absolutely meaningless when you put it on a guy like that.

You can still buy as many tickets on each tier/block as you want. Even the cheap tickets on tier 1 are widely available, tier 2 not open.

Hughie would get absolutely pulped by AJ.

The pimply one is a poor man's version of his cousin; shorter, far less reach, and can't crack an egg (Tyson was hurting pretty much everyone he faced coming up). AJ walks through all but maybe a couple in the division, but I think Hughie would be an easy night even by AJ's standards. On the other hand, Parker has really looked mediocre in his last two, and Hughie may have enough to squeak by with a decision.

Joshua is a money fight, but if the Furys want to have titles Parker's the man. That Hughie could become a star by beating Josh isn't particularly relevant when his chances are slim to none...

Me either, but Peter Fury hid behind the money on offer even though they are fighting men, who will fight anyone, anytime, don't you know. :OhYes:

From that interview i dont think frank seems too optimistic the fight will be a success.
Is it just me, or does frank not look well. Maybe hes kust lost weight, but he looks pretty drained there. Cue making weight jokes.

He had the sniffles a little bit bless him. I can't understand why he's happy about the fight not being on allegedly.

I agree with the Ruiez fight being mediocre, but the Cojanu one was a last minute replacement ex sparring partner and it was never going to be much more than that. Parker won every round.
As for Huey squeaking a decision ?
Not so sure about that. If only because of his inactivity and the holes in his prior opposition. This is 12 rounds. I wish I could still look him up on boxrec, because I can't remember if he has done 12?
Anyone know?

You think inactivity and holes in his opposition would be the only reasons he'd win a close decision? Do you otherwise think he's good enough that he should be comfortably beating Parker?

None of the above.
Can you answer my question crusader?
Has Huey gone 12 and with whom?
He has dropped off boxrec.
