What moving to Hennessy?.

If he gets the fights and TV exposure it can only be good for his career.

Plus Hennessy will of course have the British lightweight champion once Meager and Stewart meet

Well, I agree with that in principle - although there have been some cases were it is the opposite (Mike Tyson, and now David Haye).

However, there are levels and just because Dean got caught and KO'd against a guy whose score 20 KO's (in high quality), doesn't mean he'll get KO'd vs McDonagh. Surely, Dean's track record for durability would indicate that a proposed fight with McDonagh would go the distance, at least give Dean that respect.

I appologies if you have been offended by my posts, I do wish McDonagh all the best and I know his ability is ALOT better than his record suggests. I just would like to see McDonagh have a couple of more decent fights against non shot fighters before declaring him "proven" or amongst the best.

Forget the controvesy of the Gomez fight, it was a good McDonagh performance, but against a faded force who rarely campaigned at 9st 9. Saying that the win proved McDonagh is among the best is kinda like saying McBride is world class following the Tyson win.

If McDonagh fights and beats Tontchev, Stewart, Meager or someone like that - then yes, McDonagh would have proven himself.

Yes that win looks a good one, I wasn't there.... but did McDonagh floor John.... It says here it was a back injury.

Can you give us the details on that win?

The argument of styles makes fights though comes to the fore though, I could bring in Jon Honney to rest my case for a Dean win.... but I know its styles that make fights and perhaps Honney's style (combined with a lack of a manager for McDonagh) made that fight harder than it should be.

I think we better call this debate off, I am not denying you don't know your stuff at all. Yes, Jon Honney wasn't the fighter who beat Ayers (albeit a shot to shit Ayers) as we was who beat Phillips.

Final point though, who will argue differently I know, but couldn't it be argued (I said couldn't it, not my opinion as I didn't see the fight) that Earl, Meager and Hunt had soften up John for the McDonagh fight.
The Hunt fight especially (I saw that one) was a bit of a cruelling fight.

Was Chil John much better than the 2006 version of Jon Honney? The guy hasn't won in 4 years. Don't worry, I would say he was better but hardly a great scalp to claim McDonagh as the best in Britain.

Well obviously, he will be then.

Yes, lives the life and will deserve his success.... The fact he lives the life was the primary factor to the Gomez fight. One has found a new lease of life at 28, the other is shot at 28 - quite fitting really.

Dean is another fighter, by all accounts, lives the life - coming in at 137 for a low key comeback fight after a year out shows that.

Whoever we think would win a fight between the two, BOTH deserve our respect for their discipline.

mcdonagh is a journeyman. he had one lucky win against a gomez who quite obviously had had enough of the sport and turned his back on the fight - and thats all he's done. its rediculous to suggest that a fighter like mcdonagh would beat dean. fact of the matter is dean is a different level to mcdonagh. mcdonagh has had one lucky win and is suddenly calling everyone out. if they did fight it would be an easy one for dean.

Dean is a class above peter, anyone is at risk early on in a fight as is probably the case with dean. Had dean taken a steady pounding i would agree that hes probably done.
Peter has come out of the wrong corner most of his career, so deserves everything he gets, but against dean i dont think it would matter which corner he comes from dean is still too much
