Your Cruiserweight TOP 10

Post by dagilechia »

What is your actual CW top 10? it is the best division right now in my opinion.

1.Oleksandr Usyk
2.Murat Gassiev
3.Mairis Briedis
4.Krzysztof Glowacki
5.Denis Lebedev
6.Yunier Dorticos
7.Dmitry Kudryashov
8.Maksim Vlasov
9.Michael Hunter
10.Krzysztof Wlodarczyk

next are Huck, Makabu, Lerena, Gevor, Kalenga, Masternak and maybe Perez (it depends how he shows up vs Briedis), my list does not include Bellew as he is not a CW now and more of a boxing celebrity than a real boxer now

Huck still deserves his place at this kind of list.

I think it depends on the outcome of Gassiev/Wlodarczyk fight. if Wlodarczyk loses widely or gets KO'ed then Huck again is in my top 10. also a quick stoppage loss of Kudryashov possibly enters him to top 10 in my opinion. Huck is no 11 in my rank now.

I admit that I do not a lot about Dorticos, Vlasov, Hunter and Wlodarczyk. Is Hunter American defeated/destroyed recently by Usyk ?

Dorticos is big has decent pop and beaten Kalenga, Vlasov has a good streak of 9 wins including KO wins over Sillah and Chakhiev, Hunter is this guy that lost to Usyk but actually the Ukrainian looked more human in this fight than in Huck or Glowacki fights, maybe he a little underestimated Hunter and thats why it was pretty weak performance for Usyk standards (this fight should be stopped in 12 though) and Wlodarczyk is a 2 time ex-champ with strong punch, very good and strong left jab but the problem is in his head, he is not always mentally good prepared, and is sometimes very inactive in the ring, but if he's mentally good prepared and starts to fight agresively throwing significantly more punches then I don't think he must lose to Gassiev. Both of these fighters seem to have very good/good chin, neither of them got stopped.

I have never watched Dorticos and Vlasov - my fault. I have watched Wlodarczyk, but, honestly, I can not remember him - it might be his fault.
I can not agree with you about Usyk-Hunter fight, I felt that Usyk had been toying with his opponent.
Gassiev has an impressive punch power, but I think that stamina is his weakness....

I agree that Usyk won easily vs Hunter it was expected that he wins easier though. Hunter even won some rounds like 3 or 4 rounds.

yeah a lot of Wlodarczyk's fight are not worth of remembrance, it is a fault of his private life issues, divorce with wife, child with an random woman, suicide attempt, that things wasted some of his potential. Wlodarczyk defeated Cunningham Fragomeni Green and then undefeated Chakhkiev I like his wins over the last two the most

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnbq820oKb0
1:02 of the second video, he also scored a knockdown over Fragomeni like that, it proves that he has power in his left hand. Grigory Drozd said that Wlodarczyk's left hand was the strongest punch ever landed on his head.

Anyway, he is very similar to Huck - brave and experienced. I am not very fond of Bellew (big mouth) but he seems to be very popular in UK, and this is very important for boxing, generally speaking.

I think that Lebedev has a lot better technical skills than Huck. IMO Denis won their first fight and would win again.

Hey that's right! I have to update my "Last fought" statistic for Lebedev. Even if his last fight would've been the date I have listed. That would still make him an active fighter.

I don't know if Bellew is still a Cruiserweight or not, but I'll keep him ranked as a Cruiserweight at least until the date I have listed as the last time he has competed there. I'll wait to see if he announces a return to Cruiser or his next bout at Heavyweight. If he fights his next bout as a Heavyweight he's no longer going to be ranked at Cruiserweight regardless of whether he intends to return there or not.

yeah I wonder how he can not remember a fighter that was IBF and WBC champion, and was a reigning champ of WBC for more than 4 years and actually it's 3rd longest reigning cruiserweight champ ever (Lebedev will surpass him soon though). I always wanted to see a fight between prime Wlodarczyk and prime Huck, also Wlodarczyk vs Lebedev, a fight between men that scary that you would not like to meet them in a dark tunnel.

Bellew hasn't fought at cruiser in a while. I'd put him on the "retired" part. I wouldn't rank him. Makabu shouldn't be ranked anymore. Losing to Bellew is pretty damming.

I think Dorticos belongs in the top 10. He stopped Kalenga. Tabiti beat Cunningham and fellow prospect Keith Tapia. Both these dudes should be in the top 10 over Bellew and Makabu.

Why do you bother to tell me that Bellew hasn't fought at Cruiser in a while when I have the date listed when he last competed as a Cruiserweight? You think I can't read my own list?

Dorticos isn't ranked because he's currently been inactive for over a year. If he knocks out Kudryashov as I expect he will, he'll definitely be a Top 10 ranked Cruiserweight. Right now he's nothing because he's inactive.

It's dumb to rank him at cruiserweight considering he's fought at HW. It's better to not rank him at all.

Dorticos has a fight lined up though, and he's not retired. It's dumb not to rank him at this point. Your system is clownish. It's better not to have a system and just rank instead of being tied down to a system that makes you come out looking foolish.

My system is very well thought out. The fact that you'd rank a fighter who has been inactive for over a year is more foolish than anything about my rankings. Boxrec currently doesn't rank Dorticos either. For the same reason as me. He's inactive.

Bellew is just shy of a month from being removed from my Cruiserweight rankings by default.

These things have a tendency to work themselves out.

Tell ya what Mexi-Box. I already got an opponent lined up for my Beat the Boss challenge #3 on Boxing*Prophet. You can be my opponent for Beat the Boss #4.

You always wanna shout me down about every opinion I have on Boxing so why don't you show me how much more you know than me wiseguy?

I keep doing better than you and topping you every month since joining that site...or haven't you noticed?

Kinda stupid to keep trying to pull the "I know more than you" card on the guy that keeps PROVING he knows more than you.
