One Punch Power: Canelo over GGG?

Post by caldo2025 »

Just hear me out here before calling me crazy. I know that GGG is the bigger, stronger fighter with more KO's tallied but does GGG have one punch knockout type power? I'm asking because i've never see him knock anyone out cold with one punch to end the fight. His knockouts all appear to result from an accumulation of a multitude of punches. Is there a GGG KO that I'm forgetting here? I don't think so.

With that said, Canelo has had a couple of walk off punches in his recent history and yes, it was against a lighter and chinny Khan and a grossly unprepared Kirkland, but these are still better than average boxers. Canelo knocked Liam Smith with a body shot which is not exactly the same or is it? It's still one punch KO i guess. I think that you get the point.

That Ward KO over Kovalev was so shocking to me that it has me thinking of the improbable in this fight...THE ONE PUNCH KO ENDING. Will there be one in this fight and who will be delivering the punch? My opinion is that Canelo delivers the most dangerous one punch power of the two and I've even surprised myself with that opinion but I can't ignore history and results.

So what do you think? Will there be a one punch KO in this one and who is more probable to land it?

Compared to GGG, Canelo is a slapper.

Canelo's big stoppages came against two of the most notoriously chinny fighters in the sport, with Khan being almost embarrassingly chinny and Kirkland being hurt even by featherfisted and clubfighter opponents.

GGG's Macklin body destruction and KTFO of durable Ishida are better power showings IMO, and in general I think his blows seem to do more damage. He's also never teed off on a guy for 10 rounds with little effect, as was the case when Alvarez fought plodding punching bag Angulo.

Also keep in mind that Canelo's stoppages have pretty much all come against JMWs and lower....

Martin Murray said when he landed a body shot on him it felt like he was giving birth.

Murray got himself into a terrible position to allow that punch, I remember texting my then-trainer about it

Never wanted to see that one. As lame as Jr is, I wouldn't want to see the kind of brain damage he'd sustain in that fight.
