Yeah , Ortiz is 38 y/o but it doesn't matter since is Wilder's best opponent/live body to date and one of the top HW challengers.

Why you mention his age?
Is Povetkin any younger? No. Atleast Ortiz has bigger reach.
Is younger Parker any better ? I do not think so
Did Ortiz looked "worse" in his recent fights? Maybe it was because his opponents did not even try to box?
And for example Parker and Povetkin both looked like a crap in their recent fights.
So Ortiz is the biggest challange for both AJ and Wilder.
Povetkin is small and has no reach and Parker has poor defence and limited power.

Calm down! Ortiz is a legit opponent for Wilder even at 38 y/o!IronFrost wrote:apollo creed wrote:Yeah , Ortiz is 38 y/o but it doesn't matter since is Wilder's best opponent/live body to date and one of the top HW challengers.![]()

He won't be legit if wilder knocks him out. Hardly surprising news on Wilders end, he just had to get stiverne to agree and Ortiz to stop talking and step up. Though I haven't seen anything official, Luis is probably demanding a kings ransom.

Wilder by ko.
Re: OMG, I can't believe Wilder is gonna fight Ortiz!
He'll be legit in my eyes whatever the result. Both deserve respect for taking this fight. Of course if Ortiz has visibly become an old man before our eyes an offers minimal resistance then I'll call it as I see it, but it doesn't change the fact that Wilder has elected to take on the bogeyman of the division and I never thought I'd see the day. He gains kudos for that come what may.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He won't be legit if wilder knocks him out. That's odd, because he already did this before and he caught more shit from you.

I guess you're talking about Povetkin? It never took place though did it?
That's why I fully understand what Caldo said - believe it when it happens. I'm trying to suppress my cynicism too.

For a division so shallow in depth, it does seem ludicrous that it's such an effort getting these big guys to fight each other. It's one of the best match ups in the division though so credit where it's due.
To beat wilder Ortiz is going to have to be a lot better than war he's shown us the last 2 fights. But if he has shown a high enough level in the past to make me think he can get the job done if he can roll it back a few years.
Any wilder fight isn't straight forward to call. I think if Ortiz still has it he might take this one though

I think if he is still the Ortiz that so easily defused Bryant Jennings then I give Wilder only a puncher's chance. His last two fights looked a hell of a lot less impressive though. Maybe it was a ruse and he was trying to snare himself a belt-holder ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Ortiz is old and at the end. Would he be cooperative to take a big fat bonus from haymon to take a dive so that wilder finally gets a credible (fakenews) win?
YES.
YES.

Do y ou think Haymon can sell Ortiz as WBC champ and profit a fraction the amount of revenue as Wilder can earn? Do you think any network will believe they can make any money with Ortiz as WBC champ? How do you think TV ratings or PPV #s would be for Ortiz vs Stiverne?Ossyrules wrote:You love conspiraciesmontrealsuper wrote:Ortiz is old and at the end. Wake up bro. Haymon can manipulate anything and Ortiz is pushing 40 and draws flies. Ortiz will dive and be rewarded with a few more fights on undercards.

Is wilder doing any sort of figures then? As what I read is his figures are on the decline. People aren't interested by all accounts.montrealsuper wrote:Do y ou think Haymon can sell Ortiz as WBC champ and profit a fraction the amount of revenue as Wilder can earn? No American boxers generate big money. No network would televise wilder/stiverne 2.

You are reason why human race sucks. Retards everywhere and salty ass hater for sure.
You are shaking in the fear that Wilder might get a decent win and you wont have any reasons to hate.

Yeah Ortiz is old but I think he'd beat Parker who is a champion. I rate Ortiz above Parker, Haye, Pulev, Browne and Miller.

I'll start to get excited when 'seconds out' is called....
Re: OMG, I can't believe Wilder is gonna fight Ortiz!
Hard one to call, Ortiz has better technique, but is slow and plodding on his feet. Wilder is like Bambi on stilts, but at least he moves around the ring faster than Ortiz.
The last time Wilder faced a Southpaw (Szpilka) he was losing handily prior to scoring a KO. Ortiz can box better than Szpilka, and has more pop. I'd favor Ortiz to win here, because I just can't see Wilder being able to do to him what he did to Stiverne even though Ortiz has looked none too impressive as of late.
Obviously Wilder can possibly bail himself out with a big KO shot, but Ortiz has the power to knock him out too.
