“He really took the loss bad against Errol Spence. Really bad. The Golovkin fight was always one against the head and he got a lot of respect out of that fight. A lot of actual support and the Spence fight was a really tough fight to take on the chin. Of course [with] the criticism about him quitting in the fight, when he broke his eye socket, I think only now he’s back in his rhythm and now we’re looking at end of November, early December coming back.”
It is currently unclear against what kind of opponent and at what weight Brook would return. “I want him to come back at 154lbs,” Hearn explained.
“I think we need a good solid fight at light-middleweight. He’s not going to come back against [Miguel] Cotto, it’s not going to happen unless we get asked. If we want to do that fight in the States then it’s up to Kell. I never make the decisions on who he fights. I would rather he had a comeback fight at 154. He’s had two losses, I want to see some wins on that record, even if we have two fights in three or four months.”
The showdown with his British rival Amir Khan seems as elusive as ever. “The Amir Khan fight, who knows?” Hearn continued. “We’re waiting for that fight forever. Now Amir wants it 147lbs. I think Kell sees the names at 147 and thinks I want to fight them. I just don’t think he can do it to his body any more. He makes it and to be fair he made 147 I wouldn’t say well for Errol Spence but well for him but why? What’s the point when you can be so strong at 154. I would like to see some green on the record.”

Liam Smith, but even then, if non hold a title, it's never a PPV, also its Hearn vs. Wärren so I don't see it happening.samwbr wrote:None of the title holders are a gimme for Brook. But from Brooks point of view, where are the paydays at 154? He has headlined 2 ppvs in succession but isn't a PPV fighter in his own right, he needs a bit of a name and other than Cotto (who will probably be retired by the time Brook is ready to fight him) there isn't any at 154.
I have a feeling, Hearn will try getting fighters over here, if he pushes for ppv, he's crazy. His December comeback will certainly not be a ppv though.
Re: Kell Brook Update
Just before his scheduled IBF final eliminator, Brook was offered a short-notice fight with Bradley for poor money and giving away options. Brook won his eliminator and Bradley's fight didn't go ahead anyway.rio wrote: I give him credit for the porter win but it took him over 30 fights to get there when he turned down multiple world title fights before the porter fight.

Re: Kell Brook Update
I'd say 154 is just as tough, if not tougher than 147 but with less marketable names and subsequently money. You have the likes of Andrade, Charlo, Lara, hurd, Lubin, etc.keirw wrote:154 is no doubt brooks natural division now, also it is far less stacked than 147 so Hearn will find it easier to get him a winnable title shot after a couple routine wins, so I can understand the logic.

If he can afford it he should retire, unless he can get Khan in the ring for a mutual cashout.

People giving Brook this much shit seem to forget their boy Frampton moved up to run from Rigo, now he's a hero. Sinister bastardss...
Let's just disregard him taking on two of the best fighters in the world back to back when he could have ran off and fought Liam Smith, and talk about Jo Jo Dan. Had life threatening injuries for fucksake, and aye he did quit against Spence, but he might have saved his career by doing so, and just might be able to have another go at world level.

Re: Kell Brook Update
I'd back Brook to beat a couple of champions at 154 - probably Jarrett Hurd and Jermell Charlo - but that's assuming he's the same fighter as he was before the punishing losses to Golovkin and Spence. If he's still the same fighter then he can be a force at 154, but given how he quit against Spence, I think he'll be carrying the lasting mental damage of the GGG fight into any future bout.

Re: Kell Brook Update
Hearn should be moving heaven and earth to try to make Brook - Khan next regardless of the weight. Quite clearly both fighters are damaged goods and really should be looking to retire asap.
At 154lb Brook would be annihilated by Hurd, Charlo and Lara etc and there is no money for those fights anyway.

Kell is set up for life now.

Yeah but Frampton wasn't a pro for 10+ years with over 30 pro fights before fighting top competition.TheGingerBomber wrote:People giving Brook this much poo seem to forget their boy Frampton moved up to run from Rigo, now he's a hero. Sinister bastardss...

He had plenty of notice but there 2nd part of what you said about money and options was correct if you class half a million dollors as a poor money. However look who Bradley fought after that (rios, pacman x2, marquez)...brook would have fought them guys in the top rank stable if he beat Bradley. He also turned down a world title fight at 154 agaonst k9 under warren and pulled out of the alexander fight twice, once because he would not make weight.BigDoofus wrote:Just before his scheduled IBF final eliminator, Brook was offered a short-notice fight with Bradley for poor money and giving away options. Good point, but people get to their level via different routes. In the end it got him a world title and whilst his fights up to GGG were woeful, some of them were expected given what happened.lefty wrote:Yeah but Frampton wasn't a pro for 10+ years with over 30 pro fights before fighting top competition.TheGingerBomber wrote:People giving Brook this much poo seem to forget their boy Frampton moved up to run from Rigo, now he's a hero. Re: Kell Brook Update
looking back now I will always believe Brook turned down the Bradley fight because he knew he had too much for him and wanted to go down an easier route. If there is one thing can you say about Bradley it's that there is absolutely no quit in him while brook on the other hand has plenty of quit in him. The 2 times he was really up against it where he needed to dig deep to find something he looked for a way out.

Must be hard for a Brook fans to see him quit like that in back to back fights after all the hype they gave him.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:If there is one thing you can say about you is that your boxing opinions suck ass.rio wrote:looking back now I will always believe Brook turned down the Bradley fight because he knew he had too much for him and wanted to go down an easier route. I mean, if you have a broken eye socket and there is bone floating around near your eyeball and you can't see properly and run the very real risk of suffering blindness, your a quitter
Re: Kell Brook Update
Broken eye socket??? Not in the spence fight. He was in the gym training the next day!! He came up against a bit of adversity and decided to quit. There was no broken bones in the Spence fight just a broken heart. He could learn a lot off a fighter like Bradley who had zero quit in him. Just watch his fight against provodnikov if you want to see what a fighter should do when things are going against him.KiwiRider wrote:Oh for surerio wrote:Must be hard for a Brook fans to see him quit like that in back to back fights after all the hype they gave him.SaadOffTheDeck wrote: If there is one thing you can say about you is that your boxing opinions suck ass.![]()

X2 he underwent surgery both times. Re: Kell Brook Update
Exactly - the broken bone story after Spence beat him up is complete BS. Kell turned his back on another man and quit like a dog. I would expect that from an imported Latvian bum brought over as tArget practise for a good prospect not a champion defending his belt especially on home soil.rio wrote:Broken eye socket???
