Why would main events not want kovalev/Barrera?

Because Barreara might beat Kovalev or give him a damaging fight , and you want an easier opponent while building your fighters psyche, I don't think Shabransky is that easy a touch either. I would rather see Kovalev start his comeback trail someone the level of Gvodyzk recent opponents which were Baker and Gonzalez.

Don't they have Barrera too?

I think Duva does have Barrera but that doesn't stop Barrera from being a more dangerous opponent than Shabransky and Kovalev has potential to bring in a lot more money in opinion than Barerra so if Barrera beat Kovalev it wouldn't be great for Main Events.

No edge in the match up.
All it may have going for it is Rigondeaux v Lomachenko in NYC in early December as a back to backer like they did in Vegas.
That would be interesting.
They don't do that then it'll fall below the radar.
