Stick a fork in Gennady

Post by crow »

In a fight against an opponent that was made to order for him to look dominant, Gennady got shook and hurt, took a lot of shots, with few clean blows landed by himself.

Why he wouldn't commit to the body when it was clear Alvarez' head movement was superior to his attack will remain the 1 million dollar question.

If he's going to press forward and eat all these shots without firing back, he needs a new trainer that will change his style, or it's going to end by a bad KO very soon.

Abel Sanchez cannot do anything more for him; Gennady isn't the destructive immovable force he used to be.

Whether age or injuries have finally caught up with him, or some more sinister reasons come into play is anybody's guess.

The draw was +2100, quite a low number for 2 proven punchers...

What the hell is wrong with you people?

He deserves the decision against a fighter that several experts have as a Top 10 P4P talent, and he's done?

Ridiculous

I think someone needs to stick to watching WWE. Probably a bit simpler and easier for you to understand.

Even a blind man could have seen Gennady was shook more severely than Canelo did. The decision could easily have gone the other way.

GGG was busier, but Canelo was more effective.
Which says something considering Canelo's more of a slapper than puncher.

I never saw either one of 'em "shook". I saw good punches land. I didn't see anybody noticeably wobbled or stunned.

10 th rd, 40 seconds in, Canelo lands a left hook-right hand that makes Golovkin stumble back out of balance.

He was clearly hurt by it.

i wear glasses these days . i suggest you pay a visit to your local opticians and have your eyes tested. neither of them was hurt in the fight. i didn't even see golovkin blink after any of the good shots canelo caught him with. i hope they don't fight again ,some small signs golovkin is slowing down a bit as he didn't seem to be able to pull the trigger a few times. might well have been down to canelo's good defence, but a second fight is a foregone conclusion if held in vegas.

another sad night for boxing and not good for making future big fights by showing how much being the house fighter matters .

I think they both looked great honestly. I don't think they're at the top of P4P, but they're up there.

Here's for you: http://www.BS.com/de-la-hoya-c ... ch--116310
Just a few months ago Hoya admitted to have been out of his feet from a right by Chavez in their rematch, but managed to hide it well and escape.

Golovkin was clearly hurt by that flush Canelo combo. Just like he was clearly hurt by that Brook uppercut in the second rd. Both times he hid it well and marched on.

Now, go on and kindly take your own advice.

I thought he was hurt when watching the fight live, but then saw a slow-mo replay that proved me wrong. GGG is hit flush by both punches, but is completely lucid and on-balance, then sets up and throws a huge shot, which Canelo blocks. Having this shot blocked is what made GGG off-balance and stumble to the side. Coming so soon after being hit flush is what made it look like he was hurt, but on a second look, he clearly wasn't.

Stick a fork in Canelo because it's all downhill from here. He's the type of guy who is going to suck at boxing in his early 30s.

Golovkin just stumbled, but that stumble allowed judges to give round 10 he won to Canelo.

I thought Golovkin won the fight. That said, I do think he's on the slide somewhat. He got hit way too much against Brook (I don't entirely buy the argument that he was allowing him to do that), he had difficulty really pinning Jacobs down and significantly hurting him and the same can be said for Canelo to a lesser extent (Jacobs has better feet). I think the GGG of 2/3 years ago probably wins both fights via stoppage. However he is 35 now with a shit ton of amateur bouts under his belt and also 30+ pro fights. That's a lot of mileage.
