I scored it 7/3 with 2 even to Alvarez 117 - 113

Alvarez out boxed Golovkin for most of the fight.

He made Golovkin miss that many times it was unreal. That's what boxing is all about.

Anyone can get in there and just walk forward. Alvarez used ring generalship to win the bout.

I don't agree with the idea that making something miss should score you points. If someone has you backing up and heavily on the defensive (Canelo was the ring general?), they are in a way stopping the punches from coming in the first place. Golovkin still clearly outlanded Alvarez IMO even if he missed more punches.

Press row (people ringside, great view) have scored overwhelmingly for GGG. Fighters, managers, trainers have nearly all come out and said GGG won (and I reckon they know what they are watching), the crowd in the arena booed GGG going into the ring, then booed Canelo and the draw after the fight, Twitter is full of outrage, Boxing forums are conducting polls from hardcore boxing fans with only 5% agreeing with you, the ringside commentators thought GGG won, the punch stats show GGG landing more shots in 10 of 12 rounds (one even at 23 shots each) but you think Canelo dominated him. Superb. Perhaps take a moment to think about this all.

That is possibly the most laughable interpretation of a fight I've ever read on a boxing forum. Not even hardcore Alvarez fan boys are claiming the above.
I love the idea that GGG Was just walking forwards all night - nothing about the jab consistently hitting Alvarez in the face, nothing about his footwork dictating where the fight went and nothing about Alvarez's own wild misses or GGG tucking up and taking many on the gloves.
This must be a deliberate trolling attempt.

Ya, you'd think we'd just seen some Mayweather level defense and accuracy masterclass. Canelo rolled with shots well and did make GGG miss regularly, but he was still getting hit plenty throughout the fight and it seemed very clear to me that Golovkin landed more. IMO it's pretty stupid to score rounds for Canelo heavily based on him avoiding punches, when GGG didn't have nearly as many punches to avoid..

To me it's telling that, across the forums I visit, pretty much no Canelo hugger/anti-GGG poster could even give it to Alvarez. Three rounds to GGG is totally bizarre....

It's got to be a wind-up. Much like you I haven't seen a single other person claim this.

Haven't had a chance to score it yet has anyone seen the punch stats. It's was a close fight in terms of the whole affair imo but how that translates into actual rounds in the bank I don't know.

results of the poll are much wider than after GGG-Jabocs as fight itself was too. only Canelo psycho fans voted him in that poll

Didn't score RBR but felt like an 8-4 kind of fight for Golovkin. Canelo started well and rallied late, but Golovkin dominated for long stretches of the fight.

I'm wondering whether Boxrec should start vetting the people who sign up to the forum.

This is hogwash

Maybe, but there's no chance he won more rounds than Golovkin.

Golovkin 115-113 and I was being generous to Canelo, I've seen worse decisions but GGG won that fight. Will nonetheless look forward to the rematch. That clown who gave Canelo 10 rounds should never judge a fight again.

GGG won, I had it 9-3. Canelo surprised me in that he won most of the exchanges. Not sure why he ran so much. I had a suspicion going into the fight that Charlo was the best Middleweight in the world. I'm pretty sure of it now.

116-112 Golovkin,

With all the uproar over Byrds card, Trella seems to be getting out of jail for his 7th to Canelo, for me this is his "5th to Holyfield" moment, he gets that right and 3G wins a split and everyone focuses on the fight having given scorn to Byrd but admitted the right winner in a close, competitive fight.

In fact, I think there' would have been no shame in Canelo dropping a close decision to a great fighter, both of them enhanced their reputations and had the scores been fair we'd quite rightly be fancying a rematch within 12 months figuring an extra year of mileage on 3G might just tip the balance.

It's a shame we're talking controversy instead of praising the actuality of a fight that pretty much delivered what was expected.

But, but, but Adelaide, you seem to have changed your mind. Officially you only gave GGG 2 rounds. Did you think you'd made it too obvious you were fornicating clueless (the alternative is you were on the take, so incompetent or corrupt - you choose)?

In all seriousness, you're entitled to your view, but i fear you're very much in the minority and that should encourage you to re-assess how you score fights in the future.

I'm not in the least bit surprised it was a draw. I though GGG would get jobbed if he didn't KO Canelo, I'm more surprised that Canelo didn't get the decision given the amount of success he had.

117-113 ggg. Just watched it back as I was a bit pissed off and irrational last night, hating canelo! Objectively, I thought canelo fought well, powerful and granite chin, but ggg won no doubt. From round 4 you could see the relentless pressure was taking it out of canelo. His body movement and sharpness of the first two rounds had went. Thought rounds 10 and 12 were canelos, but told the story of the fight, canelo starting crisp and sharp, but unravelling as he started retreating to the ropes, eating lefts. Ggg is a machine and deserved the win.
