I was drunk by the end. Don't remember much about the finish.

I had Smith winning 118-109, seems harsh on Skoglund as there wasn't much in a lot of the rounds but Smith was just edging them IMO, he scored a lovely knockdown in the 11th, kept his composure, didn't get too excited going for the KO, competitive fight and my card doesn't reflect the fight

Felt like an elite amateur fight rather than prof to me the way both of them stood on the outside, rarely planted their feet and kept it's at distance and throwing within volume any time they engaged.

I think that card is a tad harsh, I gave Skoglund most of the middle rounds. I can't remember my card - but I thought Smith by 3-5 rounds. The KD certainly sealed it (Smith was ahead anyway for sure, but that but the icing on it).

I had Smith winning it by just a couple...although Skoglund was arguably only one big round away from levelling it.

Could not work out on the night whether Skoglund was simply a very handy fighter who we'll be seeimg and hearing much more off down the line....or if Callum was off key because of the long break and he's also a big lad who is filling-out and therefore on borrowed time at SMW.

The lazy/easy answer is that it was probably a bit of both. Skoglund has made a decent fist of coming down to SMW and got his jab working and Callum has all the shots but is going to have force himself to be a SMW for a while longer.

I think smith will struggle with groves if they meet in the final. Skoglund was landing his jab all night long, and smith couldn't or wouldn't do anything about it. Groves has a very good jab but also uses it to set up his right hand which carries plenty of power.

If i was smith i would be working on avoiding the jab because if skoglund had power following it then it could have been a different story.

Good win for smith after a long lay off but exposed some flaws.

Despite having coming down to SMW...Skoglund did look the more comfortable and able to work at a pace, conversely Callum looked huge and just a bit static at times. Some of it has got to be lay off cobwebs, but Callum is a big fella and he's bulking-out because he's no longer a kid any longer.

As you said, if it had been Groves getting through with the jab like that Calloum would have been bang in trouble...especially as a power punch would have surely followed.

Thought Smith looked good for 4 rounds then seemed to lose his composure when his nose went and looked bloody awful. Luckily he ended well too.
