Postol knocked down but won vs Najmiddinov

Post by dagilechia »

I heard that Postol was down in round 5 and almost not survived it, I also wonder if judging 98:92, 97:92, 97:92 was fair, anyone seen this fight?

Viktor looked really bad after big rest. Scorecards are not truthful. It was big event in the capital of Ukraine with 8 Ukrainian fighters in the card ( http://boxrec.com/en/event/755974 ). And on my mind Postol looked the baddest trough them.

Najmiddinov was probably better than his accomplishments suggest. You never know what you're getting with a completely untested, undefeated fighter. Abilities could fall within a very broad range.

Having said that, Postol seems to have gotten rusty in his 14-month break. He's going to need to build himself back up to the fighter he was.

Uzbek boxing scene, especially amateur, seems to be promising, maybe this Najmiddinov guy is a really good fighter

Already a thread with full card highlights here:

He was down early (glove touched the mat) when a counter shot hit him on the shoulder... Wasnt counted though. He was badly hurt when truly down in r5... He barely survived thanks to his experience and holding

Najmiddinov has nothing special except strong windmill. Postol was bad. This evening Viktor wasn't that fighter who won fights against Lundy, Aydin and Matthysse.

Very strong windmill technique. Looked like the gust knocked Postol over as the punch barely connected with authority.
