Hughie & Campbell Will Both Win

Post by Taansend »

This weekend :OhYes:

I'm 12.5% Gypo so I know these things. I can feel it in my water/tea leaves.

I don't gamble money though so I'm just passing this knowledge onto you fine chaps so you can make a few quid if you want to.

But never gamble more than you can afford, kids :TU:

I thought he had an excellent chance when the fight was being touted for UK but I do think he has a good chance even in LA.

I've watched Linares lose in LA. I've never seen Campbell lose there :OhYes:

Linares is a class act. He should beat Campbell soundly. I'd love him to win coz I like him but it won't happen.

Linares IS a class act. And he's the favourite for a reason.

But Campbell can win. He's improved so much since his loss & I think people are overestimating Linares invincibility.

He had a struggle against Mitchell. In fact he had a harder fight with him than Katsidis, Burns or Barroso. Burns f*cking DESTROYED Mitchell whereas Kevin was winning up until his injury (I think).

The wins against Crolla were decent but Crolla is good, but not great.

Linares is class but I think people are getting carried away. I've been watching him for over a dozen years & he can be beaten.

And there have been much much bigger British upsets.

I thought Burns was having his way and in his element until the stoppage in that fight. Regardless, I've only been impressed with Campbell in spurts since his defeat. He's laboured.

Blimey Taansend!
You sustain a head injury in that storm or summat?
Blimmin big call, especially cool hand Luke- I'm a big fan of his, but heck, I'll cheer him on but the bookies arnt getting a cent from me.
As for Parker, might be close, but I expect Hughie to fade from lack of activity in the last 17 months and a low calibre of opponent. Plus I really can't believe he can KO Parker early, harder hitters have tried.
You have your betting money and buy the cats a treat. They have been through a lot.

I said in the first post I don't gamble for money. Seen too much heartbreak there.

Anyway, you are well off the mark re Hughie. Haven't you seen the photo's of him chopping wood

I just have a feeling both fighters will win. Both are deservedly underdogs but not that much in my eyes.

It reminded me of that old joke though.

Two Welsh fellas & an Englishman (or two Kiwi's & an Aussie) are driving around the Welsh (or New Zealand) countryside when they see a lamb with it's head stuck in a fence.

The Welsh (or Kiwi) driver pulls up suddenly, jumps out & starts banging the lamb up the aris. Then the next Taffy (or Kiwi) gets out & does the same.

The English (or Aussie) bloke says "I'd like to have a go at that" and runs over, pulls his trousers down & shoves his head in the fence.

Nigel Benn had worse punch resistance than Gerald McClellan.

You know there's more to boxing than just punch resistance Lefty.

Well it could be argued that the Benn fight should have been stopped when he was poleaxed through the ropes and was on queer street. That said, what is done is done and all that.

Anyway, of course boxing isn't all about punch resistance- however when you're being dropped by Mendy (and seemed fearful of taking the rematch) and he looked buzzed momentarily in a few other fights aswell. Linares has got the quicker hands and just generally the greater nous imo. Time will tell though ultimately.

Losing a fight like that is worth more than all his other wins.

Too many people (not you) read too much into a loss nowadays.

Linares had has three ko losses. He learnt from each one.

Cracking little bet! I was thinking of a Campbell 7-12, Parker points double.
