Bellew v Haye II agreed for Sunday, Dec 17 in London

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

On September 7, the update, 'Bellew v Haye II: Booked dates a sticking point for December return' stated: As for possible dates, December 9 and 16 were the most likely right off the bat, although pre-bookings at the preferred venue of the O2 Arena mean promoter Eddie Hearn may be forced to look elsewhere or perhaps go for the more unconventional as he has done before.

Bellew fought on a Sunday previously when facing Ilunga Makabu at Goodison Park on May 29, 2016 and may once again agree to do the same for the sake of keeping everybody sweet and retaining the contest in the UK capital.

That leaves December 10 and December 17 as alternatives for a Bellew v Haye II Pay-Per-View event, and which could be explored before Hearn turns to the unlikely scenario of taking the fight outside London.

At at press conference around that time, Haye told WBN he was ready to go for December.

“The achilles healed nicely. I’m hopping on one leg I’m running, I’m in a good physical state,” Haye exclusively told World Boxing News.

“I’ll be fighting before the end of the year that’s my plan, it has been since the operation and I’ll be fighting before the end of the year and things are shaping up nicely for December,” he added.

Bellew defeated Haye in a disputed win back in March and both fighters really had nowhere else to go with their careers.

WBN has had it on good authority the fight will now go ahead on December 17 at the O2 Arena for a short while and Bellew v Haye II could be announced formally in the coming days.

Sky Sports Box Office are on board and boxing fans can look forward to another Sunday helping of massive boxing action.

Seems odd that it's on a Sunday. (Bellew's previous Sunday fight was on a weekend with a Bank Holiday Monday.)

I can't see Sky will put it on in the afternoon, it'd clash with the football, and that would affect PPV buy rates. So it'd be a Sunday evening. Would people want to travel with Sunday service. Or be out to gone midnight, with work the next day? Or am I just an old man?

Sunday afternoon would be better for viewers. But, like I say, won't happen.

Yh i Remember Bellew vs. Makabu was Sunday. If they can guarantee the main even to start no later than 9pm. I think it could be okay

Will believe it when it's formally announced; this article is too poorly written to be believed.

Yeah Haye has said today he's agreed to the terms but they are waiting on Bellew. So not signed yet.

Not checked December out but if it is on a Sunday, wouldn't it be better to have it start at 2pm or something and main event around 5pm-6pm?

If it's at 11pm on a Sunday, not fair on those working the next day.

Great idea around Xmas time

This event will do big business again and I think it will do a million buys this time.

Done over 700000 last time

I can't help but think Haye should have at least one or two warm up fights. He looked awful in their fight, his timing was miles out.

Yeah last show of the year - marketed to death by sky will certainly do good money.

Can see the main event being earlier such as 8pm but the big problem would be the game for super sunday.

It was and he was still beating Bellew before his leg went good and proper.
