Greatest single rounds ever

Post by generic screen name »

My personal faves are:
Castillo-Corrales I round 9:Corrales getting knockdown twice, spitting his mouthpiece buying extra time, and later TKOing Castillo
Hagler-Hearns round 1:The fight was billed "The War", bell rings it was a WAR!
Walcott-Marciano I round 13:behind on all the scorecards, Marciano wins by a devastating KO

I'm sure the historians have a few......

Round 9 and 15 of Chacon v Limon 2. Also round 13, where they both get stunned in the same simultaneous exchange (I think it was round 13 anyway, correct me if I'm wrong). That was simply the greatest fight ever.

Also some unbelievable rounds in Hagler v Hearns, Tim Littles v Frankie Liles 2 and the infamous 10th round in Corrales v Castillo 1.

Not sure - lots of holding, two very tired fighers, Holyfield agressive in the end but ineffective.

It was still a majorly exciting round. One of the best in modern heavyweight history.

Admittedly, the round thereafter did the damage.
Foreman-Lyle the round is #4. Three knockdown, wild slugging.

For shock value Id say Dempsey Willard is the best. But that is more a one sided affair, and that is an understatement!

I think everyone always mentions Hagler V Hearns rd 1, but what about Hagler V Mugabi rd 6. I really think that was better, more controlled and even more power punches. Both obviously were exceptional rds. Another was Ali V Foreman rd 5. Foreman unloaded non stop while Ali took it and lay on the ropes and with 30 secs remaining he bounced off the ropes to stun George with 5-6 consecutive shots. This was the real turning point of the fight and I think it was when George realised that Ali was superhuman.

Ward Gatti I round 9 is my favorite round. Just no defense, such great back and forth action.

Honestly, as bad as this sounds, Manfredo/Mora I, the final round was one of the more fun rounds I have watched as well.

Your "best ending to a fight ever" left a man in a wheel chair you maniac. And the damage was done with that uppercut from hell. An amazing finish, but the resulting tragedy left it one you want to forget, unless you're an unthinking psychopath that is....

Hagler Antufurmo round 15 was pretty good. I remember they both stood in the center of the ring and traded for most of the round. What was pretty amazing is that the whole fight was non stop action and both fighters had enough left to throw punches non stop after havig already fought fourteen grueling rounds.

I think Hagler/Hearns round 1 was amazing because Hearns put almost everyone to sleep with his right hand and Hagler took it and was STILL aggressive. Hagler/Mugabi is one of the most underrated fights ever also.

I'm surpised no one said the final round of Meldrick Taylor/Julio Cesar Chavez
