What are countrys where ppv is succesful

Post by Jip »

USA iis the obvious one. UK a bit i guess.
What about mexico, germany, china, japan, australia?

There are a lot of countrys where a good amount of population has money. China has a Kot of poor, but remember they have like 1.4 bill people and milions have good money. Any japanese or europeans in here, anybody knows something? I am just curious. Or are most people except usa not accepting paying extra money to watch a fight on top of a.monthly fee?

I live a few miles from the Mexican border and I'm pretty sure there is no PPV anywhere in Mexico. I know for a fact there is no PPV in northern Mexico, which is the part I'm close to. If there has ever been any PPV there it would have been in Mexico City which is over 1,000 miles south of the border. I've never been there but I really dont think Mexico City has ever had any PPV, even though most of the rich people in Mexico live in or near Mexico City. Most of the live boxing in Mexico is televised on TV Azteca or Televisa, which are more or less national channels.

So big fights involving mexican superstars like morales marquez or canelo are shown on tv azteca or televisa. Also huge match ups like canelo ggg or morales pacquiao, i mean ppv events?

There have been rarly boxer who were admired by the whole world. Tyson & ali. Manny a bit. Floyd only usa, he us to boring. Trash talking only and boxing boring only worksin the us, nowhete else.

I eounder how much tyson & ali would make today, if global boxing superstars would sell ppv in china, europeor elsewhere, realy curious. De la hoya, pac and floyd were the last 3 mega stars in boxing, but far from the tyson/ali level.

Japan doesn't have ppv in a typical sense (technically A Sign is ppv but that's about it and that's obscure domestic stuff)

unfortunately, in my country, Poland, the best sold ppv event was an MMA fight between ex-strongman and a drunk rapper while one of the worst sold PPV event was Glowacki-Usyk...

PPVs in N-America are sold in USA, Canada and also usually in Australia and New Zealand. Poland has a few PPVs from time to time. Denmark used to have some. UK has some great PPV cards...

Otherwise in Europe the online PPV model is often used... but TV like productions. Like Ranfighting.de... they pick up german cards but also Scandinavian cards in sweden/finland/denmark... all those cards are usually online PPVs on the viasat platform. MTV in finland also has it's online and TV PPV platform... used to show some Helenius cards and warrior Amin Asikainen.

BUT big N-American PPV cards are usually only sold in N-America/Australia/New Zealand... Rarely those cards are PPVs in UK (mostly shown now on Boxnati0n or Skysport) but GGG vs Canelo was.

For Mexico... Televisa and Azteca 7 pick up every PPV worth showing and shows it live or slightly delayed. SO no PPVs there.

Floyd was a bigger star than Tyson. Ali was massive, probably second to only Dempsey.

No PPV...Azteca & Televisa are free broadcast networks (called terrestrial in UK) as opposed to satellite or cable channels. They cover about 3/4 of Mexico and show most of the major fights live or with slight delay.

Most of Mexico is 3rd world and boxing is the #2 sport, surpassed only by soccer. So free boxing is just about a given and PPV will probably never be a factor down there, except possibly someday in the richer parts of Mexico City.

I'm curious, what country are you in and what is the PPV situation there?

You know a lot. That fully answers my question. Well done.
