ward-kova II, why not overturned?
ward-kova II, why not overturned?
why was this fight not over turned and a
rematch ordered since it was a TKO and
the final punch was a low blow?
i am not cynical about this, but shouldn't
sanctioning bodies be doing exactly this
kind of thing, especially if even the ref
concedes he got it wrong?
btw i think ward adapted very well in the
fight and would have won anyways. still ...

It's the kind of corruption we've come to expect from Bob Bennett and the wretched NSAC.
I hope promoters start boycotting vegas.

Because its a rough tough sport and that kind of namby pamby approach just doesn't fit in with the ideals of the sport, you get a Duran or Tyson flirting with the rules and its celebrated because they are bad guys, but a pure boxer does it and everybody is up in arms, man up guys or follow a different sport

Lets get legalized low blows. Lets overturn Golotas fight with Bowe. Ward fought like a b!tch and no one will watch his fights with full of dirty crap again. Kovalev is complainer with poor stamina.

ward manages the art of playing borderline
dirty as much as the ref allows him to. but
i have never seen a fighter winning by TKO
with the final blow being low. have you?

Re: ward-kova II, why not overturned?
Might not be overturned but there's a reason why he retired.
Re: ward-kova II, why not overturned?
True. Because he felt like it.
Krushedner is breathing easier today.

Duran vs Buchanan ?? Duran beat the Scot pillar to post. Not a dirty fight.littlepug wrote:Duran v Buchanan ?man wrote:i'm not up in arms about this. i believelittlepug wrote:Because its a rough tough sport and that kind of namby pamby approach just doesn't fit in with the ideals of the sport, you get a Duran or Tyson flirting with the rules and its celebrated because they are bad guys, but a pure boxer does it and everybody is up in arms, man up guys or follow a different sport

Let's legalize low blows then since they don't matter.littlepug wrote:Because its a rough tough sport and that kind of namby pamby approach just doesn't fit in with the ideals of the sport, you get a Duran or Tyson flirting with the rules and its celebrated because they are bad guys, but a pure boxer does it and everybody is up in arms, man up guys or follow a different sport

Re: ward-kova II, why not overturned?
Ward retired, because RN paid him extra $10 million for his last two fights. Ward hasn't been enjoying boxing for a long time, probably since the Dawson fight, and those $10 million allowed him to comfortably retire.
RN was working on a November 4th card in Oakland for Ward, but he either wasn't satisfied with his pay or just too lazy to train again.

Re: ward-kova II, why not overturned?
Since when was Ward a pure boxer? He's more of the Hatton, grab and hit type. Always has been.littlepug wrote:Because its a rough tough sport and that kind of namby pamby approach just doesn't fit in with the ideals of the sport, you get a Duran or Tyson flirting with the rules and its celebrated because they are bad guys, but a pure boxer does it and everybody is up in arms, man up guys or follow a different sport
Re: ward-kova II, why not overturned?
Of course they matter.... if you get caught, the smartest pros will always let one go low to slow down an over zealous opponent, theres too much at stake for these guys not to flirt around the rules, its always been that way, its the unwritten rule that you suck it up and take it like a man, its what separates boxing from other sports in that it mirrors real life in all its glory, tragedy and injusticeMexi-Box wrote:Let's legalize low blows then since they don't matter.littlepug wrote:Because its a rough tough sport and that kind of namby pamby approach just doesn't fit in with the ideals of the sport, you get a Duran or Tyson flirting with the rules and its celebrated because they are bad guys, but a pure boxer does it and everybody is up in arms, man up guys or follow a different sport

Ward for me was technically more correct than Hatton, with a better thought process behind his work and the kind of feet only the best possesBlodhemn wrote:Since when was Ward a pure boxer? Because they are Americans, Americans get away with everything in boxing.
