Scorecards were pretty bad, but i'm ok with the decision.
You cant expect to beat the champion by fighting that negatively on the back foot and throwing punches like a fairy. If you're throwing that lightly then the least you can do is throw them in combinations, didn't even do that!
Awful fight though, as expected.

Parker is the GOAT
But hey you guys said Ali was not good . Ali was 7-1 underdog vs Sonny Listion .
Parker is going to beat Joshua , but you will not believe me until after Parker beats him .
Think about it , you said Parker had poor defense and no head movement , Where is this in the fight ? He slipped jabs , had head movement , came in low . But yet you nay sayers who said Fury would win easy decision still refuse to believe .
I have been watching boxing for years and Parker is the real deal , I knew when he dropped Kali Meehan that Parker was the real deal .

He hasn't shown the power that dropped Kali ( yes it was a goodie) for the last 4 fights. He needs a new coach. Barry got him this far, but it's not good enough at the top level. He struggled with a top 25 boxer who had 2 years of ring rust on him.Grailer wrote:Parker is the GOAT

I was steaming pissed but it had it 117-112 Fury he easily outboxed Parker without shifting gear, boring fight but an easy win for Fury
Re: Round-By-Round - Joseph Parker (c) vs. Hughie Fury - September 23rd 2017
Fury's boxing reminded me of McDonnell's against Solis, though McDonnell wasnt nearly as negative. A lot of movement, flicking jabs from too far out to land. The superficial appearance that they were outboxing their opponent....

Sort of agree, but you can't knock the judges for deciding that Hughie's "aggression" wasn't 'effective aggression'.handsofstone wrote:I was steaming pissed but it had it 117-112 Fury he easily outboxed Parker without shifting gear, boring fight but an easy win for Fury

IFL interview starts off with one of the fckwits saying to Peter Fury "absolutely cracking fight" which set the tone for the comedy but Peter was asked when Hughie would be back in the gym and he said he would be back in the gym at the end of January. What?! No wonder they turn up looking dogshite rough and struggle for strength and no wonder they struggle to sell tickets as they don't have an effing clue how to build a fighter. He should be back in the gym ticking over while the cut heals so he is in good shape once it is healed to spar and fight again.
Least with Billy Joe his trainer Ingle said "One week off so he cannot get fat and out of shape, then back to work". If you are a full time fighter who wants to have a top line career, you need to live that way.

There is the problem right there. Fury senior saying touch him up with the jab.
Maybe if he had put some power behind the jab he might have had a better result.
He did a good job of making Parker look bad that's about all, Fury should have grabbed the title not ran and touched him up
Parker is limited and I don't think his team will be going anywhere near AJ soon personally I think Haye or Whyte might be too much for him.
Hughie is now going to be in danger of being in the who needs him club as he does nothing more than make you look like dogshit even when you win.

Re: Round-By-Round - Joseph Parker (c) vs. Hughie Fury - September 23rd 2017
I'll start by admitting I was hungover from Friday, couldn't be arsed to get a stream and decided £15 wouldn't even buy a first round in London, so I actually paid for this pile of shite.
The Fury style is now fairly obvious: lots of movement, jerky feints, direction changes, backfoot negative so that the opponent has to chase. It's a weird style and makes for a poor fight, like stealing a fight: the opposite of fighting. Hughie did a poor man's Tyson in there: none of the showboating and none of the actual damage (Wladamir was clearly marked up for instance whereas Parker showed no damage at all.)
The commentary was very biased. Parker was doing a lot of body work in the early rounds which Barry Jones did not mention once. Hughie's soft mid section was reddened from very early on and I figured this was a big part of Parker's game plan, as Hughie is very tall, tricky and defensive so the best thing to do would be to go the body. This was ignored and I don't see anybody mentioning it.
A lot of the good work that Fury was supposed to have done, I didn't get to see it from the camera angles. "Beautiful uppercut by Hughie!" Where? Parker's back was to the camera: I didn't see it. In this regard, for me, the fight was practically impossible to score. Nobody seemed to know how to score it from the commentary team either: Barry Jones at one point had Hughie 3 points up, Woodhall has Parker leading by a point and Khan is (As usual) confused but also sees Parker winning. At this point, with Hughie doing nothing but moving about and Parker throwing hard shots most of which seemed to be being blocked I gave up even trying to score. Parker seemed to be the one who was actually fighting, but it was hard to split the two.
Who was the most ineffective?
When they went to the scorecards, Hughie shook his head in dismayed disbelief at the drawn card, as if it was ridiculous. Then they read out 110-118 twice and O'connors name: I was sure of a ridiculous Huey victory. Couldn't believe it when they read out Parker.
Personally I'm glad that he got the decision. The Fury style is horrendous to watch. I couldn't sit through multiple defences of that: just moving and love taps. It's horrible. Parker is also much more worthy: a good guy who has consistently challenged himself and taken decent fights, shown he is willing to travel and roll the dice and is a credit to the sport. I don't actually think he's all that good, but I like him anyway.
I'd be interested to know how other people scored it, but I wonder how many actually watched it? I couldn't recommend it. I really don't like the Fury's so it was painful to finally give up and pay for it, but I love boxing and the intrigue was just too much for me in the end. Mick's distorted fat purple face in the post fight press conference was not my fault: I gave Mr. Toad some of my hard earned cash so I should be on his Christmas card list for sure.

I watched the first couple rounds and couldn't endure any more. Fury couldn't beat dorticos.

Fury's first 2 rounds were probably his best. You may have seen the best of the "fight."

I had Fury up too. 116-112. Parker could do very little. Fairly dull fight. Fury needs better conditioning and more confidence. I think he has potential to improve.
I don't mind his float and sting style, but he needs to improve on both.

Having now seen a lot of the fight after listening on the radio last night, I certainly wouldn’t be unhappy if I never saw Hughie fight again if he continues with those tactics. Absolutely terrible to watch; I know the tactics worked for Tyson against Wlad, but Hughie isn’t as good as Tyson and Parker was actually willing to plow forward aggressively in an effort to engage which Wlad wouldn’t do.
Was interesting to hear Peter after the fight acknowledging Hughie hadn’t thrown enough right hands though. Suggests that the plan wasn’t to be as defensive as it turned out on the night? If so, hopefully Hughie can learn from his mistakes and come back more aggressive in future.

Poor fight overall felt Parker nicked it.He actually tried to fight.
So much movement by Hughie but very few significant shots landed. Like the Kassi fight he just threw flickering jabs from far out which I can't view as scoring shots. Also where was his body work ?? That's the one piece of offence I was impressed with in his early fights.
Mick Hennessys post fight comments are INSANE but I doubt we will see him in the sport again. I'm glad Parker can put this farce behind him and move on with his career. Is he world class ? No of course not but he can be in decent fights before cashing out against Joshua.
