Terence Crawford: Mikey Garcia Fight Would Have To Be at 147

WBC lightweight champion Mikey Garcia (37-0, 33 KOs) is still looking for the biggest opportunity possible in the next few months.

In July, Garcia jumped up to the junior welterweight division and dominated four division champion Adrien Broner over twelve rounds at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Garcia has voiced a very strong list of targets - which even included WBO junior middleweight world champion Miguel Cotto - a bout that would see Garcia go up by another fourteen pounds from his last fight.

As Garcia mulls the likely scenario of remaining at 140-pounds, the biggest name in the division is moving up in weight.

Crawford is one the names that Garcia wants to fight. In order for that fight to take place, Crawford makes it clear that Garcia would have to move up to the welterweight division.

"I'm moving up to 147, so if he come up to 147 and they really want the fight - they know how to get in touch with us. We ain't never turned down a fight or ducked anyone. So if that's the fight that they want to call for or if that's the fight they want to take - we are always open for a phone call," Crawford told BS.com.

According to a recent interview which Crawford's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, had conducted with BS - Crawford is being lined up in 2018 for a potential fight with WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn, who two months ago shocked the world with a controversial twelve round decision win over Manny Pacquiao in Brisbane, Australia.

This would be a better fight than most think. Crawford dominated Garcia in the amateurs. Crawford also split with Danny Garcia in the amateurs. I would like to see Crawford vs both.

I guess this means it wont happen for at least a few years and it could eventually be one of those matchups that grows in anticipation the longer it takes to transpire.

Arum isn't doing fights with Mikey anytime soon. Weight doesn't matter.
