"He said he could fight for another five years," Loeffler said to Sky Sports. "Gennady's style of punching power doesn't diminish, like we saw with George Foreman. The power-punching is [the attribute] that goes last, with an older fighter.
"Gennady's defence is vastly underrated. He's the one coming forwards and pressing the action but [after the Canelo fight] it didn't look like he was in a 12 round fight. No swollen or black eyes, just a few scratches.
"With the right motivation, this style would allow him to fight for as long as he wants. We just saw Wladimir Klitschko fight until he was 41, Floyd fought until he was 40. We could easily see Gennady fight for the next five years - but he won't stay in the sport longer than he needs to."
Why not till 50 like B-Hop, Toney or RJJ ? What about his health and his brain ? Golovkin is blocking punches with his head like he did in the Brook and Canelo fights. He should fight BJS and rematch Canelo, then retire. Golovkin won't enjoy his money if his health is damaged. It's not the promoters or the trainers taking punches to the head!
I disagree with the comment about GGG's face after the Canelo fight. It was the worst i've seen GGG look after fight and it was bad enough that he donned the sunglasses afterwards. He has been taking some shots in his last 3 fights.

I created a thread discussing the precise same topic four weeks ago and you even submitted a comment to it:

Yeah , GGG got some nasty punches in his last 3 fights. The worst was when Canelo landed that brutal right overhand on GGG's chin in round 9. GGG should get that wbo belt from BJS and rematch Canelo / or just rematch Canelo and then RETIRE! Health comes first!!
Golovkin must be influenced by his "entourage" to countinue another 5 years. They don't care about the kazakh's health. They only see $$$ instead of GGG.
In his recent Russian language interview, Dmitry Pirog said that he is sure that Golovkin could outbox Brook, Jacobs and Canelo if he wanted to. He thinks that Golovkin fights like this due to an image created by HBO and fan friendly "Mexican" style enforced by his trainer. Pirog said that when you have been fighting like that for many years, it is hard to switch back, but it is still possible due to Golovkin's huge amateur experience.
By the way, the worst Golovkin ever looked after the fight was after Ouma fight.

Who knows, but Brook, Jacobs and Canelo are top notch fighters. It's hard to outbox them. In the Ouma fight Golovkin was in a really bad shape due to a flu and not resting.

He's 36 y/o. Beside to get that wbo belt form Saunders and rematch Canelo I don't see any reason for GGG to get punched in the face till 40 y/o. He would retire with a good fortune anyway.

I think it's more what his team want and not what he's feeling it should be right for him.
Well his team ain't the ones fighting. If at some point in the next 5 years he decides to call it a career it ain't like they can make him fight against his will.
You should never tell people how long you're fighting.. That's a mistake.. Don't be a commodity that's going to be out there indefinitely.
Be like Dempsey.. Robinson.. Ali.. Leonard.. Tyson.. Mayweather.. Threaten to retire and quit a few times.. They'll never get another chance to see you.

Agreed...there's no way I see GGG lasting another 5 years in the ring. The boasting of his promoter could be seen as a response to high-profile commentators like Lampley who say GGG has lost a step. I rarely agree with Lampley, but think he's right on this one.

I wish i could find this video again but it showed Canelo landing that overhand right on GGG first at the top of the screen and continue to walk forward and then it cut to Canelo throwing that same exact punch to Khan, it was identical, knocking Khan into a deep sleep. It was a carbon copy punch.
Canelo took one too above the left ear that normally would get a huge effect in that area of the head but Canelo just shook his head. Both guys are tanks.

I love Lampley and not to say that he's wrong but you have to consider the huge jump GGG made in opposition as well in the last 3 fights. Perhaps 3 Hall of Fame fighters in a row. Common sense says that GGG's not going to cut them down like the average fighter he knocked out in his knockout streak. I don't agree that GGG's resume was weak at all before but these last 3 fighters on the resume are special. No one can knock GGG's opposition now because no one has fought better in their last 3.

Canelo's ankle-punch was right on GGG's chin. You can't ask for a better power punch! I'd have loved to see the same kind of punch landed by GGG on Canelo's chin to see the reaction!

Brook is a good-ish win due of his speed and boxing skills but I have Lemieux as a better win for GGG.
It doesn't good for him keep fighting for 5 more years, he doesn't have Hopkins genes, I'm 100% sure that at least 2-3 defeats will come (Derevyanchenko, Charlo and, 1 in 4 years, against Azizbek Abdugofurov, Artem Chebotarev or Balázs Bácskai).
He is not the same of 3 years ago, he had average performance vs woodpecker, totally contrary we know him, vs Jacobs was far better. I gave 115-113, if he was smarter (and less suicidal), could have won with wide difference on points. If does rematch he will lose, the woodpecker already know him and didn't win because of 3 mid-rounds tired because technically and strategically was wide superior.
