Canelo: "I want it to be my first fight[GGG] of 2018"

Post by apollo creed »

"I want it to be my first fight of 2018. I do not want another fight that is not the tiebreaker with Golovkin, and that's what we're going to try to do," said Canelo in a statement provided to BS.com. Canelo was speaking at a press conference in Colombia, where the Mexican star was present for the announcement of the annual convention of the World Boxing Association (WBA).
"I feel that I was the winner, but that's boxing. I told everyone that it would be a great fight, I feel very happy with what I did, the people were happy and now they want to see the rematch,"
Canelo said. @ bscene

I wonder if the first outcome was a shady agreement of both sides to result a big money rematch? I won't be surprised if in this rematch something weird happens to land a 3rd fight.

It's in everyone's interest for these guys to keep fighting each other endlessly until they can earn better money against different opponents. :TU:

It has already been proven in court that Canelo generates at least 94% of GBP's income.

Now that Wladimir Klitschko has retired, I suspect GGG is also K2's biggest earner by far.

I believe that the biggest PPV generator for HBO at this moment in time would be bouts between Canelo and Golovkin... until Eddie Hearn starts making a success of his business venture in the US.

I imagine this scenario involving some KD's and probably ending by an arguable SD win for Canelo. Then the fans would ask for the 3rd fight! :OhYes:

Speaking about K2, I don't think it was mentioned during the fight or press conferences. I only heard GGG Promotions mentioned.

I think Oscar will wait until September for rematch.
He needs more of an advantage than a crooked judge.
He can not afford for his meal ticket to take a loss after the controversial draw

Did you mean two crooked judges? Trella's cards looks more suspicious to me than Byrd's who may just be plain stupid and/or in love with Canelo.

Fight Hype has a new article which states that Canelo who was the A side waited until there was enough interest (and therefore money) from the public to fight Golovkin. So Canelo and Golden Boy were not delaying for Golovkin to be 35 years old. They were waiting until the money was right. Of course, this Fight Hype writer frequently criticizes Golovkin, so he does not want to state the real reason why the fight was delayed. It would have still made money one or two years ago. It probably would have made more money if it was done a couple of years ago.
