Re: Jerwin Ancajas (c) vs. Jamie Conlan - November 18th 2017
Haven't seen much of Conlan going by records this looks a very tough fight. Jamie beat Yader Cardoza SD who had already been beaten 10 times then Cardoza fought Mikhail Aloyan on his debut over 10 rounds and didn't win 1 i know Aloyan is a good fighter, Jerwin a solid boxer should be a good fight.
Re: Jerwin Ancajas (c) vs. Jamie Conlan - November 18th 2017
If Ancajas is anything near worldclass he should smash Conlan. The other belt holders would.

Anyone know much about this Jerwin dude? I've never heard of him until now!

Isn't this the same kid who was on the Pac-Horn card? If yes Conlan is getting leathered sadly

I was expecting Conlan to fight a slightly better unknown than last time for his next fight and get leathered. Unfortunately the bookies will surely know Conlan is the underdog here. I was hoping to make a lot of money on his first defeat.

He's one of the nicest to watch fighters out there. Probably the weakest champion at 115, but a damned good boxer/boxer-mover. Lovely combinations, stinging power, great movement and a natural fluidity to his work.Stuarty30 wrote:Anyone know much about this Jerwin dude? I've never heard of him until now!
He was on the Pacquiao vs Horn card (stopping mandatory challenger Kinoshita), in his second defense. Won the title vs Arroyo for about $1,500 so he's not giving up that belt with out a serious fight.
I wish we could have had Conlan vs Tso, that had FOTY written all over it

Conlan is going to get worked
Re: Jerwin Ancajas (c) vs. Jamie Conlan - November 18th 2017
I love watching Jamie box. Always gives great value to the punters.
Good luck to him. He will have to raise his game by a few notches and I hope he can.

I watched Ancajas last fight a couple of weeks back. The likes of Rungvisai, Estrada, Cuadras Inoue and probably Yafai would beat him.
That said Conlan has struggled with poor opposition at a lower level. I'm expecting Ancajas to beat him down quite bad.

Conlan does indeed give great value for money and is in wars......at English title level ~(I know he isn't English before you start.) Quite why people are expecting this one to be a closely fought affair I don't know.
Re: Jerwin Ancajas (c) vs. Jamie Conlan - November 18th 2017
Conlan nearly always gets cut and put on the deck at some point - will he get away with that bat higher level ?Naandrew wrote:I watched Ancajas last fight a couple of weeks back. The likes of Rungvisai, Estrada, Cuadras Inoue and probably Yafai would beat him.

Home advantage is about only positive.

i predict the pinoy guy wins a fight where the commentary goes on about how brave conlan was and how he gave it a go against an 'excellent' champ and how he can hold his head high

Re: Jerwin Ancajas (c) vs. Jamie Conlan - November 18th 2017
Really looking forward to this fight, I always love watching Conlan, you know he's gonna give it his all and he's gonna end up on the canvas at some point, he's coming off that great scrap with Cardoza which I thought he drew, ive always loved watching Conlan and he has one of the biggest hearts in boxing, ive always felt his defensive flaws will stop him winning at the top level and from what ive seen Ancajas is a top level fighter
Ive only seen Ancajas once in his last fight when he KO'd Kinoshita and I was impressed, he's a strong skilful southpaw and likes to work the body and Conlan has been down from body shots more than once and I actually see him stopping Conlan with a bodyshot around about the 8th, as ever with Conlan I'm sure it will be fun while it lasts

Re: Jerwin Ancajas (c) vs. Jamie Conlan - November 18th 2017
ancajas seems really patient. think conlans best chance against better fghters of this level is to lure them into a brawl and catch them. wll be hard here id think
Re: Jerwin Ancajas (c) vs. Jamie Conlan - November 18th 2017
Conlan always gets cut/floored at lower level - can’t see how he beats Ancajas on his last showing.

Like Conlan. Showed tremendous heart in previous fights, but at a far lower level than this.
Ancajas is a good all-round fighter. See him patiently giving Conlan a bit of a pasting til it’s stopped around 6-9.
I always thought Conlan-Jay Harris would be a good fight in the next 12 months.

Conlan made me a fan for life after his amazing war with Anthony Nelson, and I'll be rooting for him to pull off the upset here, but honestly I think Ancajas is gonna be just too much for him. Wouldn't be shocked if Ancajas beats him in fairly one sided fashion to be honest.
I'd love to be wrong though, and I'll be rooting for Jamie.
