lol I was thinking to myself just a few hours ago 'this fight probably won't happen because there's no way Ortiz is clean'.
Re: LUIS ORTIZ TESTS POSITIVE FOR BANNED SUBSTANCE
I'm hearing the substances in question are Chlorothaizide and Hydrochlorothaizide.
Re: LUIS ORTIZ TESTS POSITIVE FOR BANNED SUBSTANCE
Chlorothiazide is a diuretic

So I guess we'll get Wilder v Rudenko instead.
Re: LUIS ORTIZ TESTS POSITIVE FOR BANNED SUBSTANCE
Hopefully Whyte will get the fight instead.

Is this for real or what ?

What kind of performance advantage does taking blood pressure and kidney disease medication actually create?

Its a good job that we can trust the Las Vegas cartel. And the WBC. And Mauricio Sulaimán.
Its a good job that we don't believe that VADA could be used selectively to only call off certain 'undesirable' fights which might derail future big business ventures. Or that obvious PED use might sometimes be overlooked when it involves big $$$$$$$$.
Its a good job that we don't believe judges/ referees can be influenced.
This is 2017, not like the bad old days where fighters sometimes got paid to take a dive. Things are more efficient and businesslike now.

The career of Luis Ortiz is officially over. He won't get another shot at a mainstream opponent, especially considering this is at least the second time in recent years he's been caught cheating.

Tooeasy is a fitting handle here. Not that Ortiz getting busted again would be a shock, but he's fornicating with you.

Re: LUIS ORTIZ TESTS POSITIVE FOR BANNED SUBSTANCE
poor wilder. is chris arreola still alive?
Re: LUIS ORTIZ TESTS POSITIVE FOR BANNED SUBSTANCE
I call Bullshit. Every live body that Wilder faces fails a drug test.
I know Ortiz has form, but cmon, something is rotten in Denmark.

I nominate Charles Martin as replacement opponent.
Re: LUIS ORTIZ TESTS POSITIVE FOR BANNED SUBSTANCE
Awful. At this point, Wilder should retire. It's either tremendously bad luck or he has the WBC in his pocket. I vote chickenshit myself...RScarf1 wrote:I nominate Charles Martin as replacement opponent.

Re: LUIS ORTIZ TESTS POSITIVE FOR BANNED SUBSTANCE
What a lemon
Re: LUIS ORTIZ TESTS POSITIVE FOR BANNED SUBSTANCE
I hope either Ustinov or Oquendo get the shot at Wilder. That, as well as Joshua vs. Pulev shows us where heavyweight boxing is at right now...
Even better: If Ortiz was.positive, they should send in Briggs or Povetkin...

Re: LUIS ORTIZ TESTS POSITIVE FOR BANNED SUBSTANCE
Bermane Stiverne is the WBC’s mandatory challenger, but Showtime flatly-refused to sanction the Haitian as a suitable opponent to face Deontay Wilder, which led to him being paid to step-aside to allow ‘The Bronze Bomber’ to sign-up for the Luis Ortiz fight in the first place.
So Deontay Wilder is facing a conundrum…
Does he perform a mandatory defence against Bermane Stiverne, against Showtime’s wishes, meaning that he’ll be inevitably receive a smaller payday for a bout likely televised by Fox?
Alternatively, should he obtain approval from the WBC to once again to pay Bermane Stiverne another step-aside fee to compete against Dillian Whyte instead (the next highest ranked challenger and a fighter contracted to a promoter that has affiliations with HBO)?
I don’t believe the WBC will allow Deontay Wilder to participate in another voluntary defence.![[icon_neutral.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_neutral.gif)
In my humble opinion, I don’t believe many people would be motivated to see a rematch between Deontay Wilder and Bermane Stiverne.

Re: LUIS ORTIZ TESTS POSITIVE FOR BANNED SUBSTANCE
I suspect the WBC will order Wilder to face Stiverne instead because that would get his mandatory out of the way.
Breazeale will fight TBA on the undercard.
That seems the most logical outcome to me.
