What drives me nuts about this forum.

Post by candyslim »

I really like this forum. I did try to stay away but found it so hard. I don't think I'd block anyone on here, not even the trolls or the fools, but there is one thing about this forum that drives me fukcing nuts, and what would never be tolerated on the only other forum I frequent, is the fact that every time there's a big fight or some news or controversy, almost identical threads spring up like weeds.

There are currently seven threads about Luis Ortiz having failed his drug test, why does it need more than one? On the other forum I referred to persistent offenders would be warned and if that didn't work, subjected to a temporary ban. I used to think the mods were a bit draconian but now I think they did a great job. It's so much better when all discussion about a particular subject is in the same place.

I agree, and there's a couple of posters who think every thought they have on a fight deserves it's own thread. Its really annoying.

Obviously because there are too many ppl trying to call attention for themselves, to show up, most time to expose their point of view as being the correct. It could be called "lack of affection" / "emotional lack".

I generally agree that part of the reason is people want attention. Ortiz drug failures should only have 1 thread. Perhaps the moderaters can move some things around and condense it to 1 thread.

But another reason is a lot of people multitask on here, I know I do, and they may start a new thread without first checking like they should do. I think a ban is a bit harsh for this though.

Hot Spanish women or Alex Daddario drive me nuts, but to each their own.

This place is run quite strange in general, a lot of place lock derailed threads, whereas they just leave them here.

Not complaining, but it's odd.

None of those threads are more pointless than this one.

I merged some of 'em.

I generally try to merge topics that people keep creating separate threads for if they cover the same thing, but unfortunately it usually just means somebody else is gonna make THEIR thread on it.

There isn't much pleasing about this place, merging threads is far from the biggest problem. Just annoying.

It's just one of the places I discuss Boxing so it never gets me down too much. If the vibe around here gets too annoying I can go experience a different Boxing discussion vibe elsewhere.

Though here lately I've tended to be online a little bit less than I was for a while there anyway.

I still get on almost every day, but for less time usually.

... or maybe once a major/prominent match becomes official, there is one topic made for it.

Example: Offical WILDER VS ORTIZ Thread (Nov 4, 2017)

It stays permanently, so we don't get 20 topics the day after the fight about the fight.
Once the fight is official, all of our discussions on it go there.
If we really wanted to clean up topics, we could even put the "What's next for GGG/Canelo" type topics in there too.

It would clean up a lot of mess and still leave room for the RJJ (1998) VS Kovalev topics.
Can we get this started?

:D Yes Kilsby I could have done but then it wouldn't have got noticed, and I did want it to get noticed. Not because I wanted to draw attention to myself, I'm not counting but I don't think I've started more than half a dozen threads since I've been a member, but because I find it an intensely irritating feature of an otherwise very good forum.

It would appear some share my sentiments, others think I'm making too much of it, I don't see anyone suggesting multiple threads is a good thing.

The May/Mac circus was the worst. Before and after. Thank goodness it has all but gone away now.
The Ortiz one is annoying.
It didn't even need it's own thread regarding the drug test, let alone 1/2 dozen.
Sometimes a reset of a poll would be nice, but not a seperate thread and poll. Example Fury Parker when it was cancelled and remade. No need for a new thread. Reset the poll and carry on.

The role of the moderators is unclear to me, since they allow people to either post fake news or submit opinions that they boldy proclaim as "facts", whilst also allowing certain individuals to be hideously offensive.

If a moderator attacks one of my factually correct claims, which I subsequently undermine with cold hard facts, I receive a warning, because they are offended about being proven wrong.

However, if someone else posts all sorts of offensive shît, fûck all is said, probably because the target of their hatred is aimed towards someone they also find objectionable, even if their claims are factually incorrect.

For some crazy reason, my words seem far more powerful than those posted by others and that shouldn't be the case if the moderators were better at managing quality control.

You’re the last person who should be complaining about the mods.

……Multiple provocative posts (something which you yourself have acknowledged), racism, posts presented with skewed facts as to push your opinion/agenda, an inability to accept counter opinions, multiple aliases, a real desire and history of continuously engaging in arguments, profanity, waffle (replies that need not be 3 paragraphs wrong)….

Clearly, (since you are operating under your current name) they have shown you a very high level of patience. If they start losing patience or strictly adhering to rules or enforcing new rules..... I would say you’d be one of the first to go, then the rest of us as I don’t think anyone, including myself, has been innocent 100% of the time.

None of the posts I've ever submitted could possibly be regarded as racist by any human being possessing mental capacity.

Either prove your accusation or fûck öff!

No one has ever proven capable of ever undermining any of the facts I've cited by third-party sources that are universally considered as reliable in nature.

Whilst I do seem to regularly challenge the general consensus of opinions, I always cite facts the cannot possibly be challenged.

I really don't care if you don't like me, but to pretend I'm factually-incorrect is utterly morose!

Even the moderators that attempted to attack me, whilst deleting my response to their bizarre opinion, they were incompetent at disproving any of my claims.

I want to acquire knowledge from the wisdom of others, but this doesn't mean I have to be gullible and buy into all sorts of fûckîng bûllshît nonsense spoutted by others!
