Ohara Davies
Ohara Davies
Did he have an off night against Taylor?
I'm not saying he would have beaten Taylor otherwise as Taylor is a class act but I though Davies had looked a lot better previously than his showing that night and thought he would give Taylor a tough test.
Last night he looked back on it, very accurate picking his big shots
Not saying the guy is world class but was part of that Taylor defeat down to Ohara being off his game, because he looked clueless that night and I don't think that was a fair reflection of his ability

Re: Ohara Davies
ya, big shock that he looks better against someone vastly inferior to taylor
Re: Ohara Davies
Taylor's movement, footwork and body work did for Davis.

Yup. And all fights under welterweight can in some way be compare to Barrera - MoralesBoxerbeetle wrote:Yeah, strange ehjamamb wrote:ya, big shock that he looks better against someone vastly inferior to taylor![]()

Re: Ohara Davies
It also shows the difference in manager promoter that Davis got this chance for a belt directly after a loss and Taylor is still looking.
Re: Ohara Davies
tom farrell is rated 132 by boxrec. he has 3 stoppages in 14 fights against fairly lowish level opponents. is this man really a good test for where ohara davies is at? didnt he look like a million bucks bashing up derry matthews before josh taylor became his daddy?
would tom farrell have been chosen as a quick comeback opponent if he wasnt obviously gonna be fodder for od?
BUT
davies aint bad. deffo should not be written off after loss to taylor. came up without much am experience and has done well considering. can probably threaten for euro titles one day, or maybe even better.

Taylor has the potential to be elite world class. Maybe even p4p top 10 one day. Davies just went up against a far superior boxer and fighter that night.

Re: Ohara Davies
Farrell had some very brave cornermen
Re: Ohara Davies
Didn't like to see him get bashed up like that , was blinking when he was down on one knee at end aswell poor corner work there tonightforcefraser wrote:Farrell had some very brave cornermen
Re: Ohara Davies
Davies to me seems the type of guy who looks frightening against guys he should be beating, but he looked woeful against a guy who he was underdog against.
I don't believe Davies had an off day against Taylor, he probably got exposed to be honest of how basic his skill set is

Pretty much sums up my thoughts on him.Ossyrules wrote:Davies to me seems the type of guy who looks frightening against guys he should be beating, but he looked woeful against a guy who he was underdog against.

Regarding the fight last night, Farrell took way too much punishment. Poor refereeing and cornering to let it go as far as that. It was uncomfortable to watch.

I think this should be highlighted more.
It really was unnecessary punishment.
The lad showed the heart of 10 lions in there but if I was him watching that back Id be asking myself serious questions about my corner.

Shame he doesn't talk about the great battle that was Barrera-Morales more often though.Boxerbeetle wrote:Yeah, strange ehjamamb wrote:ya, big shock that he looks better against someone vastly inferior to taylor![]()

It is what it is.
Re: Ohara Davies
Funny how Adam smith said he 'allegedly quit against Josh Taylor'
Re: Ohara Davies
I thought he looked terrible, either ill or tired in the week before the Taylor fight and posted as much before that fight on here. Its not to say he would of won but mentally and physically he was below par on the night.

Re: Ohara Davies
Taylor beat Davies because he's levels above him in every department. It's that simple.
