Re: Liverpool..fighting city?
Sheffield is right up there. Naz, Kell, Nelson, Silky all held a big four title. How many have Manchester and Liverpool had? And you can't count Fury or Hatton as neither are from there or lived there.
Re: Liverpool..fighting city?
Fury is from Morecambe which is in a different time zone.

Anthony Crolla
Terry Flanagan
Tyson Fury
Greater Manchester:
Ricky Hatton
Scott Quigg
Other:
Carl Thompson (IBO)
Probably missed some old lads I've never heard of.

Belfast is a massive boxing city, you had Hughie Russell boxing Davy Larmour and it selling out the Kings Hall in 1982 for the British bantamweight title. And of course, Rinty Monghagan, Johnny Caldwell and Billy 'Spider' Kelly, definitely top three with London, Manchester and either Glasgow or Belfast taking third spot.Deserter wrote:Err... Doncaster is as close to Sheffield as Bolton to Manchester. Witter can go for Leeds as well.Covfefe wrote:Why?mickey1975 wrote:He's from Bolton, throw McDonnell in if he's going in.

Oh, I thought you meant McDonnel could go in to Manchester if Khan was.mickey1975 wrote:Doncaster is as close to Sheffield as Bolton to Manchester. Witter can go for Leeds as well.Covfefe wrote:Why?mickey1975 wrote:He's from Bolton, throw McDonnell in if he's going in.

Re: Liverpool..fighting city?
Boomers famous green belt had as much prestige as one from Asda.
Re: Liverpool..fighting city?
What is the most prestigious title in world boxing? Gotta be the green belt, you may not agree but it is to me. I think you are right though WBA was the first belt in boxingCovfefe wrote:WBA is the title proper, isn't it?thechump wrote:WBC cruiser weight title holder Tony Bellewmickey1975 wrote:Sheffield is right up there. A green belt is a green belt doesnt matter who you beat for it,once you got it its yours and no one can degrade it. Im not a fan of boomer but he has the belt and its the most prestigious belt in world boxingmickey1975 wrote:Boomers famous green belt had as much prestige as one from Asda.
Re: Liverpool..fighting city?
It does matter though, the fighter really makes the belt these days.thechump wrote:A green belt is a green belt doesnt matter who you beat for it,once you got it its yours and no one can degrade it. The winner of the cruiser tournament has no right to call himself the best until he beats Boomer.thechump wrote:A green belt is a green belt doesnt matter who you beat for it,once you got it its yours and no one can degrade it.
