Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I can't view points when on mobile? Is there somewhere to turn it on/off?
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Hi,
I have 2 ideas to suggest:
1. Availability schedule. It might be actual for middle rated boxers and could help matchmakers. If boxer's manager enters availability dates for his boxer then it could simplify work of matchmaker who can easily find candidates for some upcoming event with no need to check availability by personal contact.
2. Number of rounds in career. Sometimes it is interesting to compare the distance not in terms of number of fights but in terms of rounds.

BoxRec is boxers' record keeper & not matchmakers/managers baby sitterIamhrust wrote:Hi,

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
YOUR IDEA WOULD CREATE A CLUTTER OF BOXER AND TRAINER TRYING TO SELL FIGHTERS THAT JUST LOOKING FOR A SIMPLE PAYDAY AND IF YOU WANT TO PROTECT YOUR FIGHTER THAT WOULD BE THE SWAP MEET PLACE TO FIND THEM. MATCHMAKERS HAVE A HEALTHY LIST OF FIGHTERS ON BOXREC WHICH ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS WORK THE OLD FASHION WAY TO FIND YOUR OPPONENTS IT'S CALLED EARN YOUR COMMISSION.AntonS wrote:BoxRec is boxers' record keeper & not matchmakers/managers baby sitterIamhrust wrote:Hi,

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
What about showing their rankings at the time of each fight?
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
The site has extended functionality, e.g. it has the schedule of upcoming events and raitings, manager's contacts, not just records.AntonS wrote: BoxRec is boxers' record keeper & not matchmakers/managers baby sitter
And my suggestion could potentially open the new opportunities for the boxers with limited contacts. I thought more about quality of events and simplifying the life of the guys from the world of boxing. And I don't see the realization of this idea as a difficult task from technical perspective.

Nor the difficulty of showing the rankings they were ranked at the time. If they can show the record, points, KOs, last 6 opponents and age at the time a fight occurred I don't see the difficulty in this.Iamhrust wrote:The site has extended functionality, e.g. it has the schedule of upcoming events and raitings, manager's contacts, not just records.AntonS wrote: BoxRec is boxers' record keeper & not matchmakers/managers baby sitter

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I made that suggestion couple months ago, but didn't get answer so I thought I'll try again.
One great addition for update before the last was having a number for each pro fight listed on boxers record - so that you didn't have to count fights or enter other fighter's record to know that Muhammad Ali fought Ernie Terrell in his 28-th pro bout, for example. You had that number listed next to each contest.
It's simple, not that big of a deal - but with the way I watch boxing, it made a huge difference and was extremaly helpful(I always note which fight I saw for each fighter by a number).
I wonder if there's a chance to re-introduce that?
Thanks either way, boxrec heroes.

Also, one strange issue I have since the last update is that language changes to Hungarian by default(No idea why Hungarian) - and I have to click on the English flag at the bottom with each visit on the site.
Again, not a big deal - but can be quite annoying.. Not sure if that's problem on my side or how does it work?

Yes, I liked when the number was next to each bout. I don't know why they removed that.Mastrangelos wrote:I made that suggestion couple months ago, but didn't get answer so I thought I'll try again.

Still don't see how it's hard to show what the fighter previous ranking was at each fight if they can show a record at the time at each fight...

I liked this feature too and would like to see it make a return.Mastrangelos wrote:I made that suggestion couple months ago, but didn't get answer so I thought I'll try again.

The 'Bout Details' was also a lot better as a collapsible dropdown on the fighters main page than as a separate page off.

Yeah, I don't like the separate page thing at all.FightFan1912 wrote:I liked this feature too and would like to see it make a return.Mastrangelos wrote:I made that suggestion couple months ago, but didn't get answer so I thought I'll try again.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
A suggestion I would have for the forum, is a topic section for small hall boxing. I would imagine that most people on here are "hardcore " boxing fans and so could be a popular section

¿Why change & have the history section to go to wikipedia?
On the history of the fighter..Now I see it goes directly to "wikipedia" the most noncredible site in the internet..It was much better & credible when boxrec had their version. The history section in boxrec was badically on piont & you were able to find the exact amount of official world champions(WBA, WBC, IBF & WBO world champions) from each country the fighter was from..In wikipedia you can't really do that cause some list fighters that are not from that certain country..For example Puerto Rico has had only about 50 or so world champions, but in wikipedia it shows almost 60 & they have fighters like Harry Arroyo, Frankie Toledo & others that are NOT from Puerto Rico & even have Kevin Kelly who not only is not from Puerto Rico, but he's not even a descendant of the Puerto Rican race, he's African American born & raised in Queens, New York.. & some of the bio on fighters is way off..In My opinion you guys should go back to the way you had it..Lije I mentioned before, it was much better, on point & credible..
Re: ¿Why change & have the history section to go to wikipedia?
Don't worry, nothing has been changed. Boxrec still has it own encyclopaedia, it just has been renamed Wiki. Except for its setup, however, it has nothing to do with Wikipedia.tomasiomch wrote: ↑04 Nov 2017, 04:39 On the history of the fighter..Now I see it goes directly to "wikipedia" the most noncredible site in the internet..It was much better & credible when boxrec had their version.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
add the Boxing Severity Index Score (BSI) score to each fighter made public
having a hard time matching fights without this score as our state has now adopted this system to sanction fights

What about going back to the old site/forum? Or just in case make two sites? The old one and this ugly one?

This was a small yet significant feature I would also love to see return. Again it shouldn't be that hard for Admins to reinstate.Controversial wrote: ↑01 Nov 2017, 11:23 Please bring back numbering on the fighters record. Please please please.
There's no hyperlink from the new Forum back to the main site? At least not that I can see so to get back to the main site you have to amend the URL or revert back to Google - that seems pretty daft. A hyperlink to the main site where it says 'BoxRec' above if possible would make most sense.
Regional settings are still up the left as well. 9 times out of 10 it seems like the site wants so view records in Hungarian. The rest of the time a mix between English, Spanish, French and Polish....
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Hello, I want to help translate boxrec into my language (Turkish) Do you have a section for that?
