Guzman officially out

Joan Guzman has withdrawn from his meeting with WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison in Belfast on 20 May.

Guzman has now declared that he is moving up to super-featherweight, leaving Harrison seeking a replacement.

Brave move moving up to superfeather after just one fight at feather

One can only expect that, given the short deadline and WBO sanctioning, the new opponent will be of the highest callibur.

Hmm, have to say, on balance, it sounds like Guzman was the one having trouble making weight, why else move up to SF?

Could well be James, Guzman was at SUPER Featherweight for his fight vs Morales and looked pretty tight - although did fade alot.

If Polo has retired, please can we have Inchin Chi, Frank(s)..... That has fight of the year written all over it and I still fancy the Korean to do a number.

He is probably wise doing this. Given how poor he looked versus the Thai last time out, it could've been down to weight. Harrison would have walked him down on that form, however Guzman has the power to hurt Harrison but maybe not put his lights out. It had the potential for an aging, hurtful fight.

This might not work out so bad as Harrison can head towards an Arthur fight and Guzman can now gee up his mantra to calling out all and sundry between 130-140.

Guzman is the challenger. Harrison pulled out of the March fight, but then rescheduled immediately for only 2 MONTHS later and gave up home advantage. Guzman called him a pussy. Then suddenly Guzman pulls out and moves up to Super-Feather. Now does anyone think Guzman would beat Manny Pac, MAB, Morales etc? I'm sorry but after seeing him throw everything but the kitchen sink at Joe Morales and not be able to take him out and indeed get drawn into a competitive fight I don't think so.
It sounds to me like Guzman had no intention of fighting Harrison. I've shelled out big style to go to Belfast for this and that prick takes a fight against a has been on the ODLH undercard and after all his shit talking aswell. Screw Guzman. I hope he gets his ass kicked by the Pac-Man. I don't care where he comes from. Fans like me have had to pay for his deception. Screw Warren aswell for selling the fight when he couldn't guarantee Guzman would show up.

Same here. I'd already shelled out for a hotel in Glasgow when it was due to go ahead on the 25th March, wasn't going to chance it this time. At least you'll still have a fight to go to, unlike what happened to us in March!

I'll be going, not that much bother for me as its only 4 miles to the Kings Hall! Peeeved Guzman's pulled out as it would of been a cracking contest, as long as Harrison is still on, it'll be a decent bill still. Even more so in Belfast as we don't get quality cards that often.

I feel for anyone who has been burnt! in the pocket money wise with Glasgow or paying to come over to Belfast because Harrison fought Guzman. I know the feeling alright, when I booked to go watch Calzaghe Vs Johnson and Hatton and Calzaghe pulled out, it cost me £90 to change 2 flights to the following week after the card was put forward a week. Add that onto two £80 flights, hotel, fight ticket it was not good! So I know were anyone is coming from.

Boxing's always risky when you book and when it mess's up, the punters also pay heavy in the pocket. Not many fan's of other sports would put up with it, we're a different breed alright. Thats the sport we follow, I was counting my blessings that Calzaghe Lacy did not mess up when I booked to go see that.

As long as the card goes ahead in Belfast, it'll still be a very good night out and a good weekend in general

Magee-Takaloo should be a war though and I hear that Samule Kedebe is being allowed to take a club with spikey nails on the end and a new pair of blue adidas shorts into the ring for his rematch with Harrison.
