Wilder vs. Stiverne OFFICIAL! Nov 4, 2017

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

The World Boxing Council, through President Mauricio Sulaiman, has issued a ruling - according to its Clean Boxing Program protocol - to withdraw their sanction of Deontay Wilder's scheduled defense on November 4th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, against Luis Ortiz.

The ruling was made after it was revealed last week that Ortiz failed a pre-fight drug test.

Further, it was ordered that Wilder will fight his mandatory Bermane Stiverne.

Stiverne was already scheduled to fight on the Wilder-Ortiz undercard against Dominic Breazeale, as part of the Showtime Extreme telecast. Promoter Lou DiBella will not hunt for a new opponent to face Breazeale.

The fight is now official

Well...at least Wilder probably knocks Stiverne out this time. Stiverne was completely mediocre in the fight against Rossy, and has now been inactive for 2 years. His chances are very slim. I figure Wilder gets him inside 6 this time.

I agree, but my sick sense of humour wonders what it would be like for Stiverne to KO Wilder
Wouldn't that change the face of the HW future? Eddie and Haymon would be having kittens

That would be hilarious. In the grand scheme it could work out better this way. Maybe we get Wilder/aj next instead of having to wait for Wilder or Ortiz to fight stiverne.

As much as evander getting robbed hurt, it was great watching buster kick his ass. I'll be watching the UFC on Nov 4th, there's a good chance the ff on my DVR will get a heavy workout on this card.

It was to put a more compelling fight together. No one wants this. Not the TV companies, not Wilder or his team.

I wasted my money buying a ticket for this event. Although it will help me reach my goal of seeing 100 fights live this year.

This is when Whyte and Hearn need to step in waving greenbacks offering to fight Breazeale on the undercard to make it at least watchable.

As long as breazeale joins team hearn. He's doing a good job with him, putting out big purses with ridiculous options to make him look avoided, if someone takes a fight he's got a big aj bout either way.

Garbrandt/dillishaw could be epic.

I wonder where that leaves Ortiz. Whether he's a wrong'un or whether he's not, he must be cursing his decision to challenge Wilder for his WBC belt when he had a next-up guaranteed shot at Joshua for at least double the purse.

Has he burnt that bridge or will he be the next challenger for Joshua or Pulev? I haven't heard that the WBA have removed him as their mandatory.

Assuming they haven't are they likely to do so or would they regard this WBC / VADA/ Ortiz situation as having nothing to do with them?

Any chance Team Wilder get that sted aside fee returned.. or will that just be his purse..

Quite clever. They knew Showtime didn't want Stiverne so they book Ortiz.. a month before the fight.. Wilder has got the date booked.. in comes Stiverne..

I just want WBC to explain why/how is Stiverne the mandatory. When a mandatory challenger or even a world champion loses.. no way should they still be ranked number 1.. they should drop a few places.. not like it was a close fight.

Stiverne is 2 years + older than when he lost the title. I expect Wilder to land his sledgehamers on him early. Finish the fight before half way..

The original Wilder-Stiverne fight took place almost three years ago and the Haitian appeared to be very durable and was able to withstand Deontay’s biggest shots.

So if that version of Bermane turns up next month, then he almost certainly goes the distance.

However, Stiverne’s form appears to have dipped significantly during his last outing against Derric Rossy… and as the old saying goes… “You’re only as good as your last fight”, strongly suggests that the former champ will very likely suffer only his second stoppage defeat against Wilder.

Wilder and Stiverne could have fought in june if both of them weren't on peds. Sadly, they had to wait till their personal lab wasn't suspended any more. Also funny Wilder doesn't even try to get Parker any more, because he's very happy to fight Stiverne. On the other side, it's better Stiverne doesn't fight Breazeale, because he might very well have died in such a fight.

This isn't very exciting, but hopefully it is a stepping stone to more exciting fights in the future, like Wilder - Stiverne 3.

If Stiverne actually survives, I think there's a fair chance he could die in this fight. He would lose against just about any reasonable boxer. Let alone a top 20 boxer.
