Tyson Fury won't reapply
Re: Tyson Fury won't reapply
Nah great wins don't occur on message boards, but points can be made, and arguments can be won. None of it matters in the grand scheme of things of course.
Vitali DID beat at least 5 or 6 Top 10 opponents....you've expressed these things don't matter to you. Fair enough.
Both were fairly mediocre Heavyweight Champions in the overall history of the sport, and Heavyweight Boxing. On that I think we'd both agree. Vitali certainly gets more ATG type praise than he deserves.

It really does only take one big win to eclipse his career. I don't know if povetkin or Ortiz is enough, but the winner of Wilder/Joshua breezes by vitali historically.

He was a monster on Max boxing. God they loved him. I saw right through that tub of goo. Funny thing is, he's cool as shit. One of my friends put him on the phone and he was laughing that I called him a bum.Taansend wrote:I thought Arreola was a great prospect back thenSaadOffTheDeck wrote:A good example is arreola is a 'top 10' opponent for vitali. I was living San Diego when he was up and coming. Hanging with Mexican mates must have clouded my judgementSaadOffTheDeck wrote:He was a monster on Max boxing. God they loved him. Re: Tyson Fury won't reapply
I do find it hilarious when Fury said he'd apply elsewhere, and when Peter said he'd have Hughie apply elsewhere, that automatically the BBBC and UKAD said that he could box again. Such cowards these institutions are.
Anyways, it looks like Briggs vs Fury may happen. It's risky, primarily because Briggs is likely to test positive for PEDs like he did with Oquendo. Throw Hughie on the co main event against Lucas Browne who's been calling him out, it'll be a damn interesting card. I do think Hughie could out point Browne. Briggs, I don't think has enough in the tank to box six rounds, so it'd a sideshow, and Fury could come in weighing 280 pounds and still win that match. It's a decent tune up, though for his next fight he should come in 250 and fight the Haye-Bellew winner, or maybe Dillian Whyte. Stylistically it'd be fun either way, but all those men are either too small or too worn down or are not as badass as believed to be. So, another good tune up. Then I'd throw him in with someone like Andy Ruiz, get those rounds in, get the decision and then go after either Parker or Joshua.

Succint, objective, and definitive. He's been a truly dismal champion.
End of thread.
Re: Tyson Fury won't reapply
fury should become host of a show where he travels the world trying all sorts of drugs, booze, and fatty foods. hes more suited for that than boxing now and it seems to be where the heart is. he could be like a giant fat gypsy lonely planet host.
better that than the graphic violence we'd see him suffer if he actually returned and fought aj.

I don't see how people are upset about it. Guys like Charles Martin are expected to be bang average. Fury beats the man and has to pretend he's got an mental illness.Tanzio wrote:Succint, objective, and definitive. He's been a truly dismal champion.![]()

Do you think Tyson is sane? Technically, maybe, but it's not all down to cocaine. Big John has had a massive hand in all this from the day he was born. Tyson hasn't a clue who he is himself. He just wants to be one of the lads whilst at the same time having his lunatic dad screaming down his ear. Watch the recent interview in his old am gym with his team mates to show the real relaxed, happy Fury. It's like he misses those days so much.dirk2686 wrote:I don't see how people are upset about it. It must be tough being John Furys son. Tyson did very well to actually achieve what his dad forced down his throat. I'd love to have a mad weekender with Tyson bet he would be some laugh.
Re: Tyson Fury won't reapply
No its fine for you to have an opinion. I guess I thought it was a poor comment from a MOD as you kind of assume a MOD would know their boxing. Now I'm questioning what you do know about the sport. No offence taken but to say he was the worst HW of all time reminds me of something roger Mayweather liked to say a lot about boxing pundits/writers. You know **** about Boxing.gilgamesh wrote:It's not against the forum rules to state your opinion. What would a fellow mod say to me? By being the Worst Heavyweight Champion that ever lived?
Poor comment from a MOD mate, clearly not the worst heavyweight that ever lived. Bit embarrassing comment isn't it? Who Mods the Mods these days?
Well I do, and he is.
Even the other garbage Heavyweight Champions at least had the balls to step in the ring, and lose their title like a man. He didn't win his title like a man nor lose it like one.

You're a moderator on an Internet forum not a head of state
Re: Tyson Fury won't reapply
I consider him the worst because he never defended his title. Whether or not he could actually beat some of the other Heavyweight Champions from the past is irrelevant to that opinion. I don't doubt at all that he could get a win over the likes of Sultan Ibragimov, Charles Martin, and others...but those guys defended their titles. He didn't.TopGun wrote:No its fine for you to have an opinion. I guess I thought it was a poor comment from a MOD as you kind of assume a MOD would know their boxing. 5 or 6 top 10 alphabet ranked opponents? Or 5 or 6 legitimately top 10 class opponents? Probably everyone Vitali beat in a title fight was in a 'top 10'. But he didn't beat anyone top class. Everyone in the 2004 Ring top 10 bar Wlad would have beaten the fat 39 yr old Corrie Sanders that Vitali beat.gilgamesh wrote:Nah great wins don't occur on message boards, but points can be made, and arguments can be won. Vitali made his choices and his scalps are what they are.

Just Top 10 ranked at the time. None of the Heavyweight eras since I've started watching have been particularly impressive so you could certainly say they weren't Class opponents, and that'd be a fair statement, they were still some of the better available options at that particular time though, but yes like someone else pointed out very few of Vitali's opponents were ever Top 5 Heavyweights...he definitely had a soft road. Much softer than Wlad's.Tuan_Jim wrote:5 or 6 top 10 alphabet ranked opponents? Or 5 or 6 legitimately top 10 class opponents? Probably everyone Vitali beat in a title fight was in a 'top 10'. And that's why Wlad is the better of the two brothers in my opinion. I'd rank him well ahead of Vitali.

Yeah, I rank Wlad ahead of Vitali too. Wlad at least has Ibragimov, Haye, Povetkin. Although funnily enough I still think Vitali would beat up his little brother in a bout of fisticuffs.gilgamesh wrote:Just Top 10 ranked at the time. Possibly if you could strip him of his emotional attachment to his little bro.Tuan_Jim wrote:

Vitali was always so protective of Wladimir I don't see him ever being able to really attack Wlad with everything he's got, and try to knock him out whereas the Little bro always totally wants to kick his Big Brother's ass
If you could take out the emotional stuff Vitali might be able to beat Wlad, but you can't...so I don't think he could.

Wladimir > Vitali.
