Worst UK PPV main event / card

Post by brian13 »

With all this talk about which fights should be on PPV and which shouldn't be. The question is what was actually the worst main event or card for that matter.

Eubank Vs Quinlan has to be the worst this year, Joshua Vs Molina was poor and probably the worst last year

Parker vs Fury small shouldn't have been ppv. Fury was inactive for so long, not ranked particularly high and never fought a top level guy. Parker needs to make more of s name for himself, make more of an impact and try to fight to as big of an audience as possible to raise his profile in Europe and the USA.

Plus the undercard was crap.

I would've thought Haye vs Audley Harrison would qualify, but you guys are naming some low quality stuff that I didn't even know was a PPV over there.

Khan-Salita on PPV? Yuck

The undercards for both Haye and Fury v Klitschko were terrible.

Worst overall though will be one of the Warren - Khan PPV's. Salita was a bad fight but in fairness the undercard wasn't too atrocious. Khan v a then totally unknown Prescott supported by Arthur v Cook was a disgrace. Khan Fagan plus Audley Rogan was another. At least Parker Fury was a world title fight.

Brook/Gavin was an awful main event but the card was awesome

On the flip side Froch/Kessler2 was a truly PPV worthy main event with a poor undercard

Is it too much to ask to get both once in a while? :witzend:

Yes, genuine big fights means both fighters need big purses. Del wasn't even going to say anything to Whyte before AJ-Molina until Eddie said he'd buy him a watch if he created "beef"! Then he started throwing tables, glasses etc and added at least 100,000 buys to the show and turned a crap PPV into a decent watch.

I was at the above fight and there was some atmosphere there. Of course the outcome was very predictable. I would say Haye v Harrison was better than the dull Fury v Parker fight that absolutely had no atmosphere about it, if there hadnt been 8 fights in the crowd the night would have been on par with a funeral.

I would say Fury v Parker is my number one followed by your shout.

Whatever the next one is, that's the worst one ever. As this thread always comes up every time there's a PPV.

I was at that. The undercard was ok. There were a lot of folk moaning on the way out the door but these are the wanks that only come in for the main event so fukk em. Salita was dog shít though. I was winding up some mad Jews after the fight back in my hotel and they took the huff and left the bar. Zero sense of humour!

I forgot that was PPV, and it only just happened.

I guess You Tube PPV still counts as PPV.

Didn't the Khan-Fagan PPV include Pacquiao-De La Hoya?

The undercard had Gavin, Saunders, Degale, Bellew and Enzo on it - all of them against continental types they were guaranteed to beat.

Overall it was a bit like the Cleverly Bellew II card - loads of names and one competitive fight.
