Heavyweight match ups you'd like to see

Post by lefty »

These aren't glamour match ups on my behalf but I'd like to see any combination of Whyte, Miller and Breazeale. I think they would be interesting fights. It would be particularly interesting in regards to Miller to see what kind of level he's actually at.

Number one on my list would be Joshua vs Ortiz... Failing that I would take Joshua vs Wilder..

Wilder vs Ortiz and Wilder vs Povetkin are 2 I'd also love to see...

Parker vs Miller and Parker vs Povetkin

Haye vs Breazeale and Haye vs Whyte

Takam vs Jennings and Whyte vs Ruiz

There's 100 Heavyweight fights I would love to see that will never be made because boxers fight so infrequently... and I know we're never going back to guys fighting 10 to 20 times a year like Archie Moore did ... and no world-class boxer is ever is going to fight over 200 fights again like Pep and Moore.. But what's so bad about fighting 4 or 5 times a year??? ... In a 15 year career you might get 60 to 75 fights in and that's plenty of rest for your ol bones.

I'm pretty happy anytime an untested heavyweight gets a proper test that is relevant to the landscape.

Examples:
Charles Martin vs Christian Hammer Martin has some hype, but literally no legit wins. Christian Hammer has 0 hype, but he's definitely got some legit wins and is moderately proven.
Dillian Whyte vs Jarrell Miller both of these fighters are roughly half-proven at this point, and they've both got some hype. Match them up, the winner is deep into the top 10, IMO.
Adam Kownacki vs Andy Ruiz both of these guys are also roughly half-proven, but not expected to be as good as Whyte and Miller. So this match-up tells us where these guys stand, and also lands one of them into a very clear top 15, maybe borderline top 10 spot.
Hughie Fury vs Dereck Chisora Hughie demonstrated that he doesn't totally suck. Chisora is very well-proven at this point. Relevant match-up to help accurately rank Hughie, also helps gauge how faded Chisora might be, and would also make decent revenue as an all-UK match.
Alexander Ustinov vs Jun Long Zhang both of these fighters are too old to be screwing around. So match them up right now and let's see some forward progress in one of their careers.

Maaate!!
Thems some real crackers right there!
I like all of them, except I think Del Boy might get a bit puffed chasing Hughie about
I'd also like to put forward Parker Vs Bellew.
They are a simmiler size and one needs to be shut up, you know the one :OhYes:

Right now? Wilder v Ortiz bar none

In general?

Any combination of: Wilder, Ortiz, Parker, Povetkin, Pulev

Any combination of: Parker, Whyte, Breazeale, Miller. Ruiz or Browne

Literally hundreds if not thousands of potentially interesting combinations:

For example how about: Sergei Kuzmin v Bogdan Dinu, Andrei Fedosov, or even Povetkin? ; Trey Lippe Morrison v Trevor Bryan?; Carlos Takam v Johann Duhaupas; Bermane Stiverne v Bryant Jennings; Con Sheehan v Niall Kennedy; Erkan Teper v Umut Camkiran; Michael Wallisch v Tom Schwarz; Zhang Jun Long v Zhang Zhilei; Any combination of Onoriode Ehwarieme, Romarick Ngoula, and Martin Bakole Ilunga; ... I'll stop now while one or two of you are still reading :D

Dubois-Wilder because it'd be so funny to see Wilder get KTFO by a novice.

I think the Heavyweight division needs to spend some time building up some of these fighters, there's not many match ups I'm that eager to see at the moment.

Joshua and Wilder are the only interesting fighters near the top.

That's why they should take some time building up some of the fighters below them.
The Brit lot have been pushing Whyte a lot lately which is ok and he does have some juice considering that barnburner he had with Chisora.
Parker stunk the place out against Hughie Fury which wasn't exactly all his fault but none the less it didn't impress.
If Tyson Fury came back which he likely will do in the future would sure help out now and be helpful but that doesn't look on the cards in the short term.

I actually don't mind Whyte. The aj and chisora fights we're both good. Breazeale and mansour are entertaining too. I'm interested in Haye/bellew. The division is ass, but not as dull as I sometimes portray it.

Amir Mansour vs Dillian Whyte would be a fun matchup I'll bet.

Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua, obviously would be great.

I'd like to see Bryant Jennings get back into the mix in a serious way perhaps against Jarrell Miller or Andy Ruiz or someone like that.

They don't need to build anybody up... Get them appropriate fights and that builds them up.. Joshua never fought Wilder, but all his fights sell out.. That's because he's very personable, gives interviews, gets out and about -- and stays in the gym for hours developing his skills.. You say Parker stunk the place out in his last fight.. The only way to correct that is by getting your conditioning, strength, speed, and skills up to a much higher level so you can perform better, walk down, and take out opponents who are only in there to survive or trying to fake and con their way through a fight.

Wilder vs Povetkin
Wilder vs Ortiz
Wilder vs Klitschko
Wilder vs Jun Long Zhang
Wilder vs Daniel Dubois
Wilder vs Parker
Wilder vs Whyte
Wilder vs Takam
Wilder vs Breazeale

I think Wilder has the odds against several of them in fact actually.

I'd basically like to see any of the top 15 heavyweights fight each other.

These guys mostly seem to just like to hang around for years at a time fighting highly uninteresting opponents.
