Jeff Horn vs. Gary Corcoran - Terms Agreed For November Bout
Terms have been agreed for WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn to face Gary Corcoran in the first defence of his title.
Horn (17-0-1, 11 KOs) stunned the boxing world in July defeating future hall of fame entrant Manny Pacquiao over 12 rounds in Australia to take the Filipino's WBO crown. There had been expectations that a rematch would take place later this year, but for now that is on hold as Horn first has to take on Corcoran (17-1, 7 KOs) first.
Corcoran, ranked 10 with the WBO, had been heavily linked with a fight against Horn on November 11 in Australia and his promoter allegedly told 'Scene today (October 3) that terms have been agreed for the fight.
"It's all agreed, we're just waiting for the official confirmation. Terms are agreed and it's all ready to go," Warren said.
Corcoran's promotional stable-mate Bradley Skeete (ranked 3 with the WBO) had been in the running as well.
"We tried for Bradley but they didn't want Bradley," Warren said.
"Gary's got it. I'm happy for Gary," he added.

Bradley is a Euro level boxer.. ranked #3.. but Horn wants to save his first loss for a big payday.

Pacquiao ducked Horn.

What a shit fight. Corcoran isn't even british title standard as of now imo.

if u were on horns team, wut would u do though? even against someone like skeete a loss is high probability. was always gonna be someone like this to keep a big payday safe. horn is that limited where theres too much uncertainty. seems his team knows.

Won't argue with that. It doesn't mean that anyone cares to watch it thought outside of hardcore aussie fans.jamamb wrote:if u were on horns team, wut would u do though? even against someone like skeete a loss is high probability. was always gonna be someone like this to keep a big payday safe. horn is that limited where theres too much uncertainty. seems his team knows.

TBH there is a lot worse on WBO's top 15 rankings.jamamb wrote:if u were on horns team, wut would u do though? even against someone like skeete a loss is high probability. was always gonna be someone like this to keep a big payday safe. horn is that limited where theres too much uncertainty. seems his team knows.

This is what Tommy Morrison did when he won a very improbable World Title.... He fought a guy who was 10-1 and had never fought anyone decent before, so he could be certain of keeping his title.. It was his 2nd defense and the 2nd time he fought somebody nobody ever heard of for chickenfeed money.. This time he got knocked out in the 1st round.. If you're not that good anyway you might get beaten by ANY acceptable opponent so you might as well go for the money.

Terrible 1st defence but it will be a great scrap

Jeff can fight anyone he likes (whether considered good or dud) until mandatory defence. Naturally, this fight is no big deal & is purely for local (Aussie) consumption, making him active & sharp.
