Which rounds you gave to Canelo?

Post by IronFrost »

I gave him those rounds - 2 , 3 , 5 , 11 , 12

Round 10 was pretty hard to score. Canelo started very good and landed some good combos and sharp punches

Round 1 - Golovkin started better with his jab , but Canelo landed much better power punches and combos in last 40 seconds of the round.

Seems like 114-114 or 115-113 in the favor of GGG are pretty good.

Don't get me wrong. Canelo edged some early rounds and than he edged two last rounds for sure.

Pretty close fight on the scoreboards. While Golovkin had much more dominant rounds in the row , this fight could be easily DRAW or 7-5 in the favor of GGG. We are talking about one POINT.

So are you upset with Draw ?

Golovkin won rounds 1, 4-9, and 11 on my scorecard. I thought Canelo won rounds 2, 3, 10, and 12. Therefore, 116-112 Golovkin. If you're being generous, then one more round for Canelo and then it's 115-113. The fight was not a draw.

I had Canelo winning the same rounds you did.

Lol, my favorite part is most of these 'official' board cards are from people watching shitty streams and posting about the previous round while the next one starts. Real pros.

I type real f*cking fast personally so I'm always able to post my score prior to the beginning of the next round, but yeah the quality can be sh*tty on the video feed.

forget exact rounds but had it 116-113 ggg. honestly i thought canelo was far better boxer when he could muster the energy though. landed much cleaner and got better of it when they exchanged. it was a case of ggg having too much of a tank for a guy who did better work but needed to constantly rest. ggg did enough to take it on volume but wasnt really impressed.

but saying that, stamina and workrate are every much part of boxing as flashy things like fast hands, big wound up combos, etc.

Round-by-round.. no issue w/ a draw, that's how I had it.

At the end of the fight, it "felt" like if anyone was going to get the win, it was GGG... but it is what it is.

That's cool. I was thinking about being a pro judge, but I would probably have to be corrupt in order to make a living. I decided that I'd rather not even though I know I'm better than some of the pros right now.

I know it's funny, but it's true. Making a living to me means being able to do that job as your sole source of income. Many of the judges have second jobs. I was talking to one of the pro referees at the IBF Convention. His name is Eddie Cotton. He's a well-known referee who has worked many notable bouts. He told me not to quit my day job if I became a pro judge. I asked him what does someone need to do to become a pro boxing judge. He said each state has different requirements in the United States. For my state of Florida, I would need to judge in the amateurs for two years before I could even apply to be a pro judge in Florida. Also, there are less boxing events in Florida. MMA events are increasing. I would probably have to be an MMA judge too. Then also consider that there are other Florida judges that I would be competing with for jobs. Even if I was a pro judge in Florida, that does not mean that I would ever be chosen by a major sanctioning body for a world title fight. Unfortunately, incompetent and corrupt judges are chosen for those fights. Of course, there are incompetent and corrupt people in many professions. I see this in my profession as a librarian. I told the IBF of my interest in being a pro judge, but I have ruffled feathers as a boxing writer. I don't know if they would ever choose me for title fights on a regular basis like judges such as Adalaide Byrd even though she is a horrible judge.

Watching live I gave Canelo rounds 2, 3, 8 and 12.
Rewatching I gave him 2, 3, 11 and 12.

The only rounds he definitely won were 2 and 12. A draw is very generous to Canelo, I think 116-112 GGG is the fairest scorecard.

1, 2, 11 + 12 Were clear rounds to Canelo for me

I also had 3 an 10 which makes it a draw, but to be fair you could score these to Ggg they were very close

When you score the fight round by round its a close fight. People who say it was an easy win for Ggg are either massive Ggg fans and biased, or dont understand a fight is scored by individual rounds

I disagree and the commentators did not give the round to Canelo either.

Oh well if the commentators didn't give it to him I must be wrong.

He landed 2 or 3 jabs. Canelo actually landed as many jabs and 2 or 3 power shots. Canelo just made him miss over and over again. You score the fight however you want but don't act like the commentators mean anything.

Can't believe the amount of people who gave Canelo the tenth. Was probably the best round of the fight and he started great but again he didn't work for the full three minutes and GGG took what he had and came firing back with hard accurate shots and bossed the rest of the round.

Credit to both for a genuine top class round of world class boxing though :TU:

watch it again pal.. punches landed were bout the same amount, yet GGG was clearly the ring General and Canelo did nothing but evade the first whole minute offered nothing. Only thing "clear" bout that round.
