Vitali wants to return to fight Joshua
Re: Vitali wants to return to fight Joshua
Styles make fights and a prime klitschko would have beaten Joshua...Vitaly had a good chin, good power and decent engine. Not the punch variety or overall ability as his brother, but not sure Joshua is that hard to hit or you need to be that subtle to outbox him. Indeed I would see it as Joshua vs Joshua but I think vitali greater chin and stamina would prove decisive.

Re: Vitali wants to return to fight Joshua
In spite of that inflated KO ratio, Vitali couldn't actually put Obed Sullivan on the floor. Grant put him on the floor prior to Klitschko, and David Tua laid him out clean in 30 seconds immediately after Klitschko.skanksta wrote:It's a list of four ?Tuan_Jim wrote:Engine? He was good when in one-way traffic but against Lewis - a live body punching back - he was exhausted after 6 rounds of action. 6!skanksta wrote:The reason Vitali is treated as a great ? Size.
You're right, he's not really a great on skillset, but that size, engine and chin makes him someone I'd like to see against any of the heavies in history. Frazier, Tyson - they'd be giving so much natural size away that I'd have Vitali favourite to beat them. He's not fit to lace their boots in a lotta ways, but SIZE.
Frazier and Tyson could romp through 15 and 12 respectively, so unless Vitali got them out early he would be in peril, given that the pace of a fat 38 yr old Lewis pushed him to his physical limit. And since Vitali doesn't have the power to dent either man (the list of fragile chins that withstood his "power" is long) I'd give him no chance.
I hope he does fight Joshua. He didn't beat anyone of note and rode off into the sunset horribly overrated. Boxing owes him a beating, and Joshua will certainly dole one out.
AND Briggs doesn't really count - fight shoulda been stopped about 8 times and there was an a touch of the "you never put me down Sugar-Ray" about his redemption performance that night.
Not convinced that Tyson and Frazier woulda been able to hit him enough to tire him out.
I must concede I should say - his engine for a man of his size - fair enough.
I'm not saying he's ATG material - far from it. More a sort of ATG Ismail Abdoul.
Those men could punch.
Vitali couldn't put Chris Byrd on the floor, who Ibeabuchi and Wladimir both decked repeatedly.
He couldn't put Vaughn Bean down, who Holyfield decked.
He couldn't put an old Lennox Lewis down with his best shot - a man twice one-punch KOd by genuine punchers.
Vitali, amazingly, couldn't even put Corrie Sanders down - a 40 year old man with a glass chin.
He couldn't put Shannon Briggs (!!) down - a 40 year old man with a glass chin, decked by McCline, Darroll Wilson, Frans Botha, Ibragimov etc.
He couldn't put Chisora down - who David Haye then splattered.
Add Samuel Peter, Chris Arreola, Kevin Johnson, men he could not miss, who could decked multiple times by other men but stood up to Dr Iron Fist.
If you take the time to analyse that impressive sounding KO ratio, you realise there is little substance to indicate Vitali is doing damage against all-time greats.
Re: Vitali wants to return to fight Joshua
All fair and reasoned points - except for Shannon Briggs as I said.
I only started sticking up for him because the OP was ridiculous.

Re: Vitali wants to return to fight Joshua
Vitali barely lost a round in his whole career. Both losses are injury, and he suffered badly from these.
Never put over, never kod. A great fighter who without the cut would’ve stopped Lennox. Just watch it.
However Vitali underperformed and it’s hard to judge how decent he actually was.

Re: Vitali wants to return to fight Joshua
Maybe the Danny Williams fight give us the impression of being such a powerful puncher. Vitali could have went for names on the resume, and fought the likes of Toney or Holyfield after Lewis, even over the hill at that point, they would be no lesser name than Wlad on AJ's record at this point.
The frustrating thing with Vitali is he never reached his potential, and most of us sensible lot can see he could have at least mixed with the top 10 HW of all time quite comfortably with just the raw ingredients he had added to his sheer size, while the more accomplished brother Wlad would likely have been KO's by the top 10 p2p HW's of all time.

Risible statement - watch the fight again and try to stop being such a bellend. You’re not very funny, and your statement is a powerless clichejameswilson wrote:My Uncle was a great man who without bollocks, would've been my Auntie.boxingknockout wrote:A great fighter who without the cut would’ve stopped Lennox..

Agreed, aj already beat the best brother. This would be a giant waste of time.jamamb wrote:vit would've been brutalized. chin up, powerless arm punches dont get it done against joshua. vit never fought a top fighter around his size. oh wait, he did, and fat old lennox nearly tore his face off.davie wrote:Prime Vitali vs Joshuagilgamesh wrote:Seriously?![]()
Well...can't say it won't be interesting, but I'd say Wlad would've had a better chance of avenging his own defeat had he gone through with the rematch than Vitali will have of avenging it.
now that sh1t I'd pay to see.
Re: Vitali wants to return to fight Joshua
He doesn't say he will fight or plans to fight or will be difficult to do it. He says he would want to but it is impossible for him to fight Joshua. Dishonest, lying journalism.
He also doesn't say Joshua win was lucky, he is questioning whether it was lucky.
The lucky win was the one when he got a cut and could not continue against Lewis before handing him an beatdown. Just like to any other fighter he fought.

You're right, he was lucky the cuts stopped that fight before Lennox iced him.

Lewis punched they cuts on to Vitalis face! I don't get how it was luck? The momentum was starting to swing and I firmly believe Lewis would've finished the job in the next few rounds regardless of cuts.

Hello, I was the one predicting months ago Wilder would fight Stiverne next while you where thinking about Ortiz. Acting like Wilder was amazing against... What was his name again? And when I said Miller would walk all over him I was perfectly right again.Stuarty30 wrote:True dat bludSaadOffTheDeck wrote:He doesn't know anything about heavyweights either.Stuarty30 wrote:

I menth Saad, somehow you claim him to be right anyway, so same to you.Stuarty30 wrote:You must be confusing me with someone else as I've never said Wilder was amazing because he's notasdfjkl wrote:Hello, I was the one predicting months ago Wilder would fight Stiverne next while you where repeating Wilder was amazing against... And no, I predicted Wilder couldn't sign because that doping lab of him was suspended and would only accept when they weren't under supervision any more and I said that several months before it actually happened. When they indeed weren't under supervision any more the Ortiz deal was indeed made, knowing beforehand that that fight would never happen. That's also the reason why Stiverne could easely accept a serious opponent, he also knew those fights would never happen anyway. Then all of a sudden Ortiz got suspended because of a medicine he already took for ages while VADA was checking him for years and this was never a problem. And then exactly the thing I predicted months and months beforehand indeed happened. While I said that Wilder also could have fought Stiverne like 5 months ago, when that lab was suspended, but appearantly both Wilder, as well as Stiverne got something to hide and didn't sign anything at that time. Wilder even got busted with a car full of drugs, Stiverne didn't show up at a test, while he took doping in front of a doping tester the time before.
I even said a fight between Stiverne and anyone reasonable would be dangerous. If Stiverne dies in that ring, I think all of these guys involved are to blame.
