Impressed with Barrett and was chuffed he got the deserved result against Cardle.
I honestly thought it would have gone the same way as with Unfortunate Dodd.
I’ve not seen Ritson so unable to comment.
I too would like Dodd get another shot in preference to Cardle.
FWIW I’d like to see Cardle v Joe Murray . Murray has been quite vocal wanting an opportunity and had an excellent ko result abroad last year so subsequently seems to have been avoided.
Having said that I thought he was somewhat fortunate in his fight last month against Matty Fagan . Fagan got a knockdown and Murray also had a point deducted in a very close fight.
Can't b classed as avoided when he withdrew from a final eliminator with ritson
Yeh I understand what you are getting at but from what I was told he had been lined up for a bigger and better opportunity that unfortunately failed to materialise. It’s not quite as simple as it sometimes seems this boxing lark ! .
He’s certainly not fight shy as taking on a highly rated unbeaten prospect abroad would indicate .
Yeah I was told they had something in the pipeline but it never happened. They cud have still made the ritson fight.. it's good to see him more active under Steve wood I wud like like to see joe v cardle presser Wud b good no love lost between Murray and Gallagher

No time for Candle. Terribly boring fighter who clearly lost that 2nd fight to masher. Turned down big money to fight Campbell iin his last defence, rejected it for a supposedly easy final defence then would fight luke after he won the belt outright. Ended up losing it. Doesn't sell a ticket. Think he sold under 10 tickets for his homecoming in Scotland. Make him fight Murray, no way does he deserve a direct shot. Masher has to be next in line.

I can see masher v the winner next 2 champions on a sky card easy to make. The board should order cardle v Murray final eliminator.
I agree with your cardle opinions but can see why they dodged Campbell.

I can defo see why they dodged Campbell but hindsight they really ballsed up. Better to get a career best payday and lose to a borderline world class fighter than Barrett for a considerably smaller purse and now left in no man's land. Masher defo deserves the shot next and hope he wins, then candle can get a shot if he comes through Murray.
There's not a lot kicking about on YouTube for ritson. The bits I've seen he looks to do everything well but nothing stand out. Record suggests he can bang a bit more than barrett. Looks an interesting fight, barrett needs to use his experience and drag him into deep waters. Hope ritson wins for the north east!
Not seen Ritson so probably won't bet on the fight but looking at a combination of a few on here rating him/picking him to win, and neither seeming to be a big puncher, around 7/2 for Ritson to win a decision seems a decent bet.
Very impressive from Ritson he done a number on Barrett there, he was excellent, better in every department, scored 4 knockdowns with different shots, head/body/left right, great shot selection and power in the shots, he cut the ring off well and had Barrett back peddling constantly, Barrett just didn't have the strength or power to keep Ritson off, nothing wrong with Barrett's heart he really tried to fight it out with Ritson but it was a lost cause, great cornerwork from Steffy
Ritson is a welcome addition to the domestic scene though, he looks capable
As a North East native I'm delighted, will have to watch it in the morning. Funny, a lot of people had Barrett beating him easy, goes to show nothing is certain, I saw this as another Ward/Jazza Dickens situation, where the northern fighter was severely underrated. Hearn would be daft not to sign him.
After watching the fight I'm impressed, won every round for me, just marched him down with strength and relentless, well timed shots. Loved them body punches. North East has two British champs now!

I would like the Dodd fight next. Ritson may be seen as favourite but you can't write Dodd off at this level.

What did he say mate?
Apparently went round his house to say he couldn't fight, would never do anything, won't fight on a big show again. I guess he must have been upset when they parted ways.
Barrett is the kind of fighter who is difficult to look good against, but Riston looked very good.
I look forward to seeing him defend his belt, some good domestic fights to be made at that weight.
On the other hand, I thought Cardle looked awful. I lost count of the amount of left hooks Connelly landed.
Ritson signs with Matchroom then today - makes sense with Cardle/Dodd mix and also another North East fighter to support Josh Kelly for that area next year.
