WBO ordered it. How do you see it.

Re: Saunders vs Lemieux
I think Lemieux can take him, but Saunders taking a decision wouldn't shock me.
Re: Saunders vs Lemieux
ya cus lem looked not great in winning 9/10 rounds last fight. not like saund had hell with that randomn russian two fights ago and didnt even win on many ppls cards..talk about pick and choose. cus saund has stopped a lot of good fighters right.
60-40 fight for saunders. has lot better skill but not muvh strength and fades even more than lem. russian arguablt beat him , ryder really close, lee really close, blackwell close, novice eubank close, monroe lacklustre as hell fight. saunders not a 'schooler'. also struggles with presure. lem not a boxer. should be competitive.

Re: Saunders vs Lemieux
If Lemieux trains proper good chance he sparks BJS out.
BJS runs it's possible he could squeak out a decision.
Attractive matchup.

Re: Saunders vs Lemieux
boxrec 5 vs 6. both below top tier but still solid. case forveach guy. the right fight to be made. better this thsn them butchered by canelo, ggg, char, jacobs.
btw that russians next fight he barely won a sd over some bum just inside boxrec top 400. but no bjs bad fights dont count.

Re: Saunders vs Lemieux
It's really all about Lemieux's head space and how seriously he takes it, Russ Amber made comments about David a few years ago that suggested he wasn't really into it.
If he takes it seriously and trains with passion, takes a proper hard look at BJS and works on strategy and all the sneaky sly stuff BJS does and doesn't get frustrated and is in it for 12 should it go that far then yes I think Lemieux can do him.
He certainly has the power no question about that.

Knock out BJS in his own back yard ... he has an 25-0 record.

I’d favour Saunders to win on decision

Gotta favor saunders by decision, but it's close to 50/50.

I'd be rooting for Lemieux but somehow I think BJS is the kind of fighter who is performing better when he has a real threat in front of him.
Re: Saunders vs Lemieux

Re: Saunders vs Lemieux
"Lemieux Admits He Passed on Saunders, Has Eyes Set on Cotto" (7th July, 2017):
Lemieux admits that had to refuse an offer to take on WBO middleweight world champion Billy Joe Saunders on September 16.
The Canadian puncher has other plans in mind.
"I really wanted to fight [Saunders], but the timing is not good for me because we are aiming for a bigger fight and the risks are high," Lemieux said.
The big fight has a name: Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33 KOs). This is Lemieux's top target.
So we know for certain that Saunders had previously tried to make the Lemieux fight, but the Canadian puncher declined the opportunity, which suggests that the Brit is supremely confident of being able to outbox the hyped-up GBP fighter.

Although it’s not in quotation marks I can see Lemieux actually saying your quote....“The big fight has a name: Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33 KOs). This is Lemieux's top target” talking about himself in third person.Enlightened-One wrote:"Lemieux Admits He Passed on Saunders, Has Eyes Set on Cotto" (7th July, 2017):

It's not in quotes because David Lemieux didn't actually say those words during the interview. He implied them.lazboy wrote:Although it’s not in quotation marks I can see Lemieux actually saying your quote....“The big fight has a name: Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33 KOs). No journalist would ever use quotes for words that were never uttered by the person being interviewed.
I have no interest in educating you on the correct use of English Grammar.
Lemieux rejected an opportunity to face Saunders. FACT!

I was making a joke that David Lemieux refers to himself in third person due to his ego.Enlightened-One wrote:It's not in quotes because David Lemieux didn't actually say those words during the interview. Re: Saunders vs Lemieux
By the way…
If the fight goes to purse bids, Lemieux would only be able to receive 25% of the total purse.
And with Queensberry Promotions being armed with BT’s considerably-sized war chest, there’s every possibility that they could win the purse bid (assuming both HBO & GBP are short on funds).
Both GBP and David Lemieux would have to be incredibly confident of being able to successfully overcome Saunders on British soil, because a defeat to the Brit would scupper the possibility for him to face the winner of the GGG-Canelo bout.
And if Cotto somehow decides to continue his career during 2018 (because after all, he signed a multi-fight multi-year contract with GBP), then a Lemieux loss also would rule out the Puerto Rican Hall-of-Famer as a potential future opponent.
This is the reason why I doubt that Lemieux would agree to face Saunders, because using his own words, he is “aiming for a bigger fight and the risks are high.”
