Fwank set the bar high with Hamed-Kelley. Michael Jackson in camp, Adidas "here on business" ads all over the telly and billboards in The Big Apple. No doubt Camp Eddie will smash that with a Next Gen show or a revamped Prizefighter US.

20 years ago. The likes of Flanagan are relatively unknown these days.

Why? He's done two shows selling out Wembley in the last three years. The landscape has changed significantly.

Can Eddie do with AJ what Fwank done with Naz? I think he could tbh. AJ is probably the biggest commodity in boxing at the moment. AJ as a fighter I'm a fan. I'm not a fan of his image he's created. It's a massive pile of wank.

I think GGG and Canelo have miles bigger profiles worldwide. AJ isn't big news over there.

Not even an argument - just a reasonable point about the shift between Britain and America regarding boxing over the past few decades. If you want to be/continue to be an arsehole fair enough.

everytime I read posters getting almost to fisticuffs over nothing I get Alan Patridge's reaction at the end of this clip in my head, but it's too niche ever to quote it.

I like DiBella and I don't want to be unkind, but if Matchroom are to bother taking on the US market they will need to do it with top level, large scale shows.
DiBella won't be his competition anymore.

Past few decades? Yes, I remember sitting through Hagler, Leonard,Tyson, Floyd etc and thinking "America must be sick of these, I bet they'd prefer Matchroom's light middleweight saga".

Like it or not American boxing is in a bit of a rut whilst the sport is booming here.

Two decades ago the idea of an American, undefeated, knockout artist heavyweight champion coming to England to fight the British version of himself would have been largely unthinkable, yet now that seems not only possible but the likely scenario if Joshua and Wilder meet.

Thats because wilder can hardly sell out birmingham alabama but joshua could sell out wembley twice over, wilder will get smashed to bits if he faces AJ,i think brazeale would put up a more competitive fight than wilder, beyonce wilder is poo and after 30 odd fights is still green and wild

I'm sure there would be very few tears shed on either side of the Atlantic if Eddie's latest venture fell flat on it's arse.

But I would hesitate before writing him off, he wouldn't take this kind of risk if he didn't believe he could succeed.

It's not a bad first show from Eddie but he needs bigger and better to gain traction over there. I'd make sure AJ main events pretty soon on non-PPV in the States, with Jacobs on the undercard.

dont think americans really care much about boxing in general these days. plus big part of there markets are hispanics who prob wont care about aj or guys who arent hispanic or fighting hispanics. at least floyd had lots of great mexicans to help build his name. ggg had canelo rivalry to do his biggest numbers. aj can do decent us numbers with right promotion i bet, but doubt superstardom. getting him to us to fight would prob help with that, but does it sacrifice his uk numbers and is it worth that.

remember lennox also had huge us stars in holy and tyson. aj has....
