Re: Doug Jones vrs Pete Rademacher (March-1961)
Rademacher's problem was the way he started his professional career.. His first 2 fights were against 2 of the best Heavyweights in the world and he took savage beatings that took his chin away.. He suffered 10 knockdowns and getting knocked out cold twice.. Even if Pete could outbox somebody for a while, all they had to do was bide their time.. As soon as they landed anything solid Rademacher was hurt.. And he kept getting hurt worse until they were forced to stop it.
Some of the punches that knocked Rademacher down from a natural Light Heavyweight -- most big Heavyweights would laugh at at those shots.. About a year before this fight Radamacher was able to beat George Chuvalo because he was able to avoid anything even half hard from the Canadian absorber.. That was Rademacher's best win as a pro, and it was only Chuvalo's 22nd fight.. When Chuvalo fought Doug Jones a couple years later he was able to run him over with his size and strength.

Pete Radamacher started his professional boxing career at the top, fighting for the HW Championship ?
(which I heard was his own idea)
so where to you go from there ?

Pete Radamacher kind of sort of resemble Ingemar Johansson but IMOP he sort of fought with a Jersey Joe Walcott vibe to him.
and is it my imagination or does Doug Jones remind you of Sonny Liston ?
(without the power and intimadation factor )

A Light Heavyweight version of Sonny Liston -- with Farmer Dell trunks hiked up around his chest.
Tim Witherspoon in a certain light and pose -- when he had a stern look on his face -- sometimes looked so much like Sonny Liston it was spooky.
