its your logic mate. 'they fought, so he had enough experience to challenge him. experience a wash, a non-factor'

It’s not logic, it’s just history

Saunders was marginally more experienced or developed when they fought, but was also pretty much unproven above British level when they fought

I was surprised when I cast my vote only to see Lemmy was way in the lead. I would have thought more would have gone with Saunders?
Lemieux has fought way better guys, sure he lost to a few and has a lot of miles on the odometer but I think he can do it.

Cos it doesn’t mean anything. He fought bums, but if he’s not ready to fight an opponent at British level after 18 bouts he has some development problems

fletcher has beaten a fringne contender in max bursak, was former commonwealth amateur champ, fought for a wba title. hall decent at british level. then of course ryder, spike, blackwell, and the euro champ.

if there's really not much in it why do you keep dogding?

Don’t confuse belts with actual level of boxing.

He’s not really world level now, but he has a belt as there’s so many on offer. Realistically in days gone by he is euro level/world level contender at best.

Let’s day this. After fighting 18 pro bouts, eubank was ready to step up to Saunders

amateur: around 100 fights, loads of international tournaments, olympics
most rounds fought: 12 (5x, also done 10 once)

eubank best opponents at time: terry carruthers, stepan horvath, tyan booth, Robert Swierzbinsk, bradley pryce (bjs also fought)

To be fair you seemed to query the suggestion Eubank was a novice due to him having 18 fights. The reality is he was a novice - some boxers rapidly escalate and others take longer. He'd had loads of basic learning fights but there's no question that in comparison to the levels Saunders had seen at he was several stages behind.

That's what made the fight so intriguing; we thought Eubank could be very good but we didn't really have anything solid to base that on.

Ok then but going back to the point Eubank was clearly pretty raw and it was his first step up. And it was very close. I think Saunders is a lot closer to the fighter he was then than Eubank is.
