All nokes aside,Eddie has done an unbelievable job with Anthony Joshua.Yes the fact hes on Sky is a huge part of this and the constant exposure he gets there has undoubtedly helped create the hype around AJ but if you look at all the sponsorship deals not just in this country but abroad aswell and the tv appearances at the right times in the right places the exposure and marketability thats been put in place has neen fantastic to be honest.
Its alright saying my 100 yr old grandmother could have done it with the resources Hearn had available but it requires somebody competent at promoting to lead this.
Im not sure Frank would have done as good of a job with the same resources available.Hearn has a complete understanding of the balance between building a corporate star that huge sponsors will love and understanding the mentality of a young modern audience.
Fwank has already done it, on a much bigger scale worldwide, with Naz.LancashireLoyal wrote:Haha

I know i know and I did think somebody would pull me up on that but Im thinking more in terms of how promoting/ideas and the difference in target audience have changed since then.I think Frank got left behind but i will say they are getting better especially since the BT deal started.mickey1975 wrote:Fwank has already done it, on a much bigger scale worldwide, with Naz.LancashireLoyal wrote:Haha

He didn't stop. He just no longer had the platform he once had by creating his own niche channel.dirk2686 wrote:Makes you wonder why he stopped if he's that good at it...mickey1975 wrote:Fwank has already done it, on a much bigger scale worldwide, with Naz.LancashireLoyal wrote:Haha

It's beyond retarded that haymon hasn't tried to get fighters over there.brian13 wrote:I hope they are nervous. Eddie going to the States will benefit us with big fights. Also we may get to see Jacobs and the US stable fight on these shores.
I think it's harder to sell non British fighters to the British public. We're quite jingoistic in that sense. It's not like the US boxing landscape whereby it doesn't seem so nationalistic. I mean outside of Mexican-American fanbase of course.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:It's beyond retarded that haymon hasn't tried to get fighters over there.brian13 wrote:I hope they are nervous. Yeah but it's normally when they're fighting a British fighter. I dont think you could sell say Spence vs Thurman in the same way. Now of course you could just purely match them up against brits, but Hearn probably wouldn't wanna do that as there would be a good chance that in certain instances, some of his potential cash cows would end up being derailed.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:It certainly doesn't appear that way when they come over.
Ah okay. Regarding the undercard thing though, I think it would cost too much. Even if you have a PPV event in the UK, obviously the cost of the PPV is a lot lower than in the US and aside from that, the two main event fighters tend to take up the majority of the purse. I can't see Haymon fighters being happy with the money that would be on offer. They're used to Al overpaying.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I was talking about them fighting Brits or even being on the undercard. Not that I believe if you wanted to put Thurman/Spence on in the UK that nobody would care.
Well, they're really used to sitting around and doing nothing. He has hundreds of fighters. I guarantee you someone like Porter would have come over and fought an eggington. Peterson doesn't make huge money. Plenty of them.lefty wrote:Ah okay. Regarding the undercard thing though, I think it would cost too much.
