Predictions for Tonight

Post by diddy »

I’ll go Mares by DEC -115

Hurd by DEC +140

Trout-Charlo goes distance +100

Groves and Lara fights are not challenging nor profitable ventures.

I have no clue who wins this fight. Part of thinks this fight is a little too soon for Lubin.

I have the Boston College ML against this pathetic LVille defense. Hoping they hang on so I can watch in peace tonight.

I had never seen Andres Gutierrez fight until a few weeks ago. Watched him for a few rounds just to scout his style. He definitely ain't beating Mares. His movement is too stiff. Mares is a much more refined boxer, and will earn a UD I figure.

Santa Cruz beating Avalos is basically all but a guarantee. Only question there is whether or not Santa Cruz wins via TKO or Decision. I'd lean toward decision, but a TKO wouldn't shock me.

Trout vs Hurd is a 50/50 fight in my mind. I'm leaning toward Trout to squeak out a narrow decision, but I could easily see it going the other way. I'm intrigued by this one.

Lubin vs Charlo is the most interesting of the fight to me. I'm leaning toward Lubin in this one because he's always struck me as a solid talent. This is definitely a huge step up for him, but I think he's capable. Again wouldn't surprise me at all to be wrong on this one, but I'm taking Lubin.

I definitely favor Lara to outbox Gausha.

I don’t think Hurd is great and doesn’t use his reach like he should but he’s just so much damn bigger than Trout. He’s a huge 154lber.

Massive weight draining isn't an advantage in my mind, which is generally the case when you're HUGE for a weight class that's not Heavyweight. We'll see how it goes though. Hurd vs Trout is definitely the biggest question mark of the night for me. Lots of possibilities.

I think the size advantage plus Trout being long in the tooth is a difference there. I’ll be surprised if Hurd loses. Mildly.

Biggest Q for me is def Lubin-Charlo. Lubin needs to box like Jackson did against Charlo but keep from getting knocked out. I have absolutely no idea if Lubin can take a punch. How could anyone know?

Charlo isn't a big puncher. I expected lubin to be at least -175.

Yeah. I've seen an article recently about "Jermell Charlo: From Boxer to Puncher" or some sh*t like that. My reaction to that was "Jermell Charlo is a puncher now? When did I miss that?"

Seems to be one of those deals like when people kept mixing up Wladimir and Vitali. People think Jermell is Jermall or something.

He sparked Jackson and hatley, I just don't know how impressive that's supposed to be.

Considering he was being outboxed by Jackson prior to stopping him. Not very.

Seems like he had nailed Jackson in the eye or something and hurt him didn't he? I forget the finish to that fight, but I seem to remember Jackson favoring his eye before going down. Maybe I'm getting it mixed up with another fight.

And yeah Hatley is only known for 2 things. Beating Mundine in Australia, and losing to Jermell.

Also coming into the ring and confronting the wrong Charlo brother when he was trying to stir some hype for his fight with Jermell he got in Jermall's face

Hatley is known for being a sick gym fighter. A lot of people rave about his talent.

Andy Lee was supposedly a monster in the gym too. Don't get me wrong I like Andy a lot, and have always found him a very fun fighter to watch, but he never quite was the monster in the ring that he supposedly was in the gym.

That's why sparring stories mean d*ck to me.

I don't care about someone getting dropped in sparring but I find it interesting when someone like hatley has people like Errol praising his talent and he can't mentally transfer from the gym to fight night.
