Walsall Town Hall show stabbings
Walsall Town Hall show stabbings
Today's show (the Super featherweight tournament) is off after stabbings at last night's show.

Gutted as I was going and really looking forward to today's show.
Rumours locally its a lot worse than report suggests and possibly fatalities so in that respect today's cancellation doesn't really matter. Thoughts with victims and hoping rumours untrue and all pull through.

Think it was toward the end of paddock mills. Heard round 9 and then while they were waiting for the decision.

Wolves vs Villa was on at 5:30pm. Any connection?
I can see alcohol being banned at boxing soon.

Why can't the British people behave themselves?
It's like they can't go to a sporting event without getting pissed up and fighting.
I think they should bring a law in that the fat, tattooed, scrounging man-children can only attend with parental supervision to keep them in check.
Typical of Britain. Have a few shandies, watch the boxing and start thinking they're Ali.

No connection imo to the football. Paddock is a Walsall lad and I think the other kid was from derby
Re: Walsall Town Hall show stabbings
What kind of arsehole takes a knife to a boxing show absolute clowns!
The problem is this will affect the image of the sport and I bet these aren't even boxing ppl, no decent boxing fan would ever take a knife to a show crazy.

Re: Walsall Town Hall show stabbings
Definitely no connection, video I've seen of trouble inside looks to be started by a group of man bag/plastic yardie types against Paddocks crowd. I'm guessing they were from Derby supporting Mills.SAPFO wrote:Wolves vs Villa was on at 5:30pm. Any connection?

Not sure how much alcohol played a part either if people are taking blades in the first place I'm sure having a beer or two can't be to blame.

That's horrendous. Makes me look back at West Yorkshire Polices decision to take fighters off the bill a little while ago and wonder if they were expecting something similar.

This exactly my worry some great shows locally recently and coming up but how will this affect it.REEVE wrote:What kind of arsehole takes a knife to a boxing show absolute clowns!

I hope the bloke who was doing the stabbing got the hiding of his life before the police got him

Craig birch (old express and star writer) has shared a video on Facebook showing the trouble inside the venue

Re: Walsall Town Hall show stabbings
Which group is which? There is a group ringside where it seems the instigator throwing the pint was, along with the other knob who threw the chair. And then the other lot by the wall who seemed to retreat.
The sad thing is that being a small hall show, 95% of the attendees would have known one of the boxers on the card.
Photo on entry to venue or no entry, with CCTV to cover the crowd, maybe even security with a camera.

Common sense would tell you weapons are already banned.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Why not just ban weapons?SAPFO wrote:Wolves vs Villa was on at 5:30pm. Any connection?

Some nightclubs require some form of ID to get into now, and they scan it on the door. This method used in a boxing arena could be detrimental to the gate, as not everybody has ID, so this may put off a promoter, hence I suggested a photo on entry, as you would have it in the back of your mind that the police will have access to a ready made mugshot to plaster all over the local rag.
And as I said, security with footy style camera on a pole.
