Lara defends his WBA Super Welterweight title against the unbeaten Gausha on Skys 154 triple header this Saturday, can see this being a bit of a stinker TBH, ive seen a bit of Gausha on undercards over the years and I remember him being decent, I'm pretty sure he was lucky to get the W in his last fight though but I'm struggling to remember the actual fight, wasn't Gausha a former US Olympian?
Lara having his 1st fight since the early blowout of a totally shot Foreman, he scored a cracker of a KO in the 4th but I rememeber him doing zilch in the previous rounds apart from scoring a dubious KD
There's no doubting Lara is tremendous boxer and I'm picking him to outpoint Gausha here but he does have a habit of slipping into autopilot and boring his way to a decision without changing the pace

Re: Erislandy Lara vs Terrell Gausha
118-109 Lara and even more dreadful than I predicted, nothing more than a 12 round sparring session, Gausha for all his amateur pedigree was piss poor and never tried to take the title from Lara, he neither led or counter punched and it allowed Lara to win comfortably whilst not looking that great, he put Gausha down with a nice shot but never tried to make a breakthrough, Smigga was purring over Lara's skills but theres more to boxing than not getting hit and offensively Lara is far too lazy

Awful awful awful.
Watched 7 rounds. He is just a bigger version of Rigo and I have no sympathy for him. The quality gap is there in so many of his fights to really take these guys out. He carried Delvin Rodriguez FFs who Cotto beat with ease.
however the WBA are partly to blame. That Andrade fight should have been forced, but they are corrupt and would rather have two champions.

Andrade and Lara would be just as dull. He needs someone like hurd coming after him.

The place was full and buzzing after the Charlo fight. Lara emptied the building by the 6th round
Can't even speak English either after all this time.
Absolutely terrible for the sport.

I couldn’t make it past 4 rounds, and I spun through those quickly. Dire to watch. Did laugh at Smigga describing Lara’s style as one ‘for the purists’.

Just caught up today watching the long sky double bill
Enjoyed most of it but the Lara fight was absolutely stinking
