Where now for Jamie Cox

Post by horndawg80 »

Where now for Jamie? I'm a massive Jamie Cox advocate so hopefully he'll be back on Matchrom soon. Maybe David Brophy or Luke Blackledge? Then John Ryder?

Hopefully Eddie liked what he saw last night. I know he got stopped but I thought he was decent. One minor mistake which cost him

Entertaining fighter.

How about a fight vs Cunningham at 160?

I think he should do 160 as the UK middleweight market is pretty poor.

Paul Smith got 3 World Titles shots - he’s no worse than him.

He shouldn't have got one or a crack at Ward

Not a justification for another sub-world class fighter to keep getting shots after losing at world level

He needs to earn another shot at a title.

Target Zeuge - he’s weakest champ.

what do people think his best wins are. maybe start with something that would top those if he pulled it off.

i mean even shopworn luke blackledge would prob be his best. just get him moving forward and lets see if he can handle it. obv hes nowhere near world class though.

Jamie Cox vs Matthew Macklin or Andy Lee might be interesting.

I'll be intrigued to see him again.

I think he could be really interesting at British title level at either Middle or Super Middle. He's had a random shot at a world champ but he really needs to build up to something now, show us what he can do at British title level for a start.

Smith has a much better record than Cox.

Cox has done very little in his 10+ year career.

What's his best result? His dodgy decision against Sai? Getting destroyed by Groves?

Cox v Martin Murray or Fielding would be decent scrap ?

What about David Brophy for return fight - certainly fights to be made in UK easy enough.

He lost to a top guy. Who cares? :maybe:
I thought he was doing alright until that devestaing body shot. I like him, he is entertaining in the ring, has a personality and is improving each fight. Saying he needs to go back to UK level is a bit harsh really. I think he needs to get a better haircut and go stateside and make a name over there.
He is a fan friendly fighter, the mexamericans would love him.

My first thought was Yildrim.
Patrick Nielsen or Erik Skoglund would be good.
Brophy, Paul Smith or Blackledge would also be good fights...

He never even succeeded at UK level.

I'm not too sure that he would win the English title against Darryll Williams.

Cox has not even proven that he's a top 10 domestic super middleweight.

He is vastly overrated.

Who overrates Cox? Virtually nobody gave him a shot at beating Groves, and I don't see anybody saying they see World Titles in his future or anything.

Why Nielsen instead of Ryder?
Ryder should have taken Nielsens place in the rankings across the board, that should include the number 1 spot with the WBA putting him in a strong position for a shot at Zeuge.
a win over Nielsen would position him for a match up with Ryder I would have thought...
