What's on the horizon for Degale?
What's on the horizon for Degale?
He's not fought since January and has no fight scheduled.
The obvious rematch option with Jack after the draw, disappeared when Jack moved to LHW.
His domestic rivals are all tied up in the SMW tournament.
I don't see Ramirez happening and there is no way Benavidez will be asked to fight Degale after just lifting his first title.
Andre Dirrell was allowed to move into interim position, is that a fight the IBF will mandate? Is it one we need to see again?
In a division full of interesting options, there doesn't appear to be a lot on the table for Degale

He’ll either appear on undercard of Haye/Bellew or he’ll be Feb 4th show at O2 unless he gets something in the US maybe on Matchroom show.
He’s only been punching again after major shoulder op.

Gilberto Ramirez ?
Re: What's on the horizon for Degale?
I sure hope so. That's possibly the best matchup that can be made at 168 right now.SAPFO wrote:Gilberto Ramirez ?

It's like them both walking into a party, looking around, and realising they are the only ones there. Might as well get on the dance floor while it's free..gilgamesh wrote:I sure hope so. That's possibly the best matchup that can be made at 168 right now.SAPFO wrote:Gilberto Ramirez ?

Re: What's on the horizon for Degale?
Why wasn't he in the tournament - is he still recovering from last his fight? I understand Bellew had more money to make at HW v Haye (although I disagree with that in boxing terms)
He could have propelled his name and money with this, especially fighting Groves or Eubank Jr

Is he fit again? I haven't heard about him lately

I think he said he was coming back in December.Noxy wrote:Is he fit again? I haven't heard about him lately

Losing defence against Chris Eubank Jnr when he withdraws from the SS.

It would be hilarious if fielding got a world title fight before Callum Smithwesshaw1985 wrote:https://twitter.com/Rocky87Fielding/sta ... 0261939201
might be a hint in that tweet...

Re: What's on the horizon for Degale?
Why would Eubank withdraw to fight Degale when Groves is next? Groves is less dangerous than Degale at this point I'd figure. Or at least not any more dangerous than Degale.leejonesjnr wrote:Losing defence against Chris Eubank Jnr when he withdraws from the SS.
Re: What's on the horizon for Degale?
I think that it is quite realistic that both Fielding and Ryder get world title shots before Smith.Naandrew wrote:It would be hilarious if fielding got a world title fight before Callum Smith
Re: What's on the horizon for Degale?
They surely have a contract with him that makes pulling out of the tournament have negative consequences.gilgamesh wrote:Why would Eubank withdraw to fight Degale when Groves is next? Groves is less dangerous than Degale at this point I'd figure. Or at least not any more dangerous than Degale.
What rules do they have to stop him doing it?
Re: What's on the horizon for Degale?
I don't know for sure, but yeah like you I'd assume he has some sort of contractual obligation. He could probably pull out if he suffered a debilitating injury or something, but he surely didn't do that against Yildirim.Horse wrote:They surely have a contract with him that makes pulling out of the tournament have negative consequences.gilgamesh wrote:Why would Eubank withdraw to fight Degale when Groves is next? Unfinished business with Dirrel IMO. Fight was razor tight and but for that terrible start (where DeGale does deserve credit off course) then surely Dirrell would have got the nod.
Re: What's on the horizon for Degale?
If that's the case then have it over here. I know DeGales been pining for a homecoming for a while now. I can't stand they Dirrell cùnts though. I've never disliked anyone as much in this sport in all my years of watching it as them and Angel Garcia!stujones wrote:Unfinished business with Dirrel IMO. Couldn't stand Michael Gomez but I had respect and admiration for him at least!
Re: What's on the horizon for Degale?
Yeah, although with both associated with Al Hayman, who doesn't like to travel - I cannot see it happening, but yes DeGale is the proper champion he SHOULD have home advantage.Stuarty30 wrote:If that's the case then have it over here. After Andre's bitch fit after the Froch bout I can't see him being too excited about heading back over here.stujones wrote:Yeah, although with both associated with Al Hayman, who doesn't like to travel - I cannot see it happening, but yes DeGale is the proper champion he SHOULD have home advantage.Stuarty30 wrote:If that's the case then have it over here. More money than he'll see anywhere else is rules enough. No way he's pulling out for another fight.Horse wrote:They surely have a contract with him that makes pulling out of the tournament have negative consequences.gilgamesh wrote:Why would Eubank withdraw to fight Degale when Groves is next? Re: What's on the horizon for Degale?
Don't get me started on that one... Not saying I'm a huge Dirrell fan - I admire his skill set though and would have loved to have seen him and Ward at their pomp go for it... but for me Dirrell vs Froch was one of the worse decisions in a UK ring.Stuarty30 wrote:After Andre's bitch fit after the Froch bout I can't see him being too excited about heading back over here.stujones wrote:Yeah, although with both associated with Al Hayman, who doesn't like to travel - I cannot see it happening, but yes DeGale is the proper champion he SHOULD have home advantage.Stuarty30 wrote:

A bad beating from Eubank JR at some stage. Degale takes too much punishment his career wont last very much longer I fear.
