The Charlo's

Post by caldo2025 »

The 2 Charlo brothers sure are tough to like, aren't they? The Charlo's are like the ultra talented version of the Dirrell's where controversy seems to just follow them around like a proverbial black cloud diminishing the great achievements they've been stacking up. Stunning knockout victories over JRock Williams and Lubin should have the brothers legitimately able to lay claim to Boxing's P4P lists but instead, the brothers are struggling to get fans behind them.

If I were the kid's agent, i'd pay a little more attention to the post fight interview and the way these two carry themselves. The Charlo's two biggest wins respectively were really marred by the blatant disrespect they showed their opponent in post fight interviews...just plain UNLIKEABLE and a horrible look. Maybe they aren't smart enough to realize what things matter above and beyond talent...but it's something they should really think about paying someone to teach them. Unless, they decide that they want to be the villain and take that road to the bank like Floyd did but even Floyd knew how to be a sportsman after a fight and credit the warriors who risked their lives that night just like they did.

Either way, I just can't help but to always be rooting for the other guy to beat a Charlo...any Charlo. If in fact, they are 2 different people.

Good post.

I dont know what happened to young blacks in usa nowadays, if its hip hop culture or what not. But arrogance, ignorance and stupidity a lot of them have when i look at the landscape of young black boxer. Wilder being the moron that he is, charlo disrespecting opponents, broner punching random people in the streets or davis having legal issues.

Dont worry with charlos. GGG and jacobs will take care of the bigger one and lara & spence gonne take care of the smaller one.

Isn’t Spence out the same gym as them? Not saying they won’t ever fight, but guys from same gym and training partners sometimes don’t fight cos of that

I've been a fan for a few years. I don't find anything unlikeable about the way they box. That's all I care about.

Their boxing ability is TOP notch!

But, I agree with Caldo to a degree. If the Charlos are going to take on this role, they should make it marketable. AS of now, they act like street thugs. That's their prerogative, but I'd like to see them polish themselves in some sort of manner beyond fighting. Maybe they can take some pointers from Spence.

Either way, the Spence/Charlo camp will some be ruling the 147, 154, & 160 divisions. I see Hurd as being the only obstacle at 154 for now.

i hope Sulecki jumps into this competition - we'll see after Culcay fight, even if he had only 1 month to prepare he should win comfortably

Talk about one guy who upped his stock on Saturday, Hurd made himself future millions with that performance. He gets cut and then just drops the hands to his side, comes forward like a possessed mummy and absolutely pummels Trout like no ones ever done. That kid is a monster for 154 and his chin is ridiculous. I'll watch that kid fight anyone anywhere now. Then after the fight, he couldn't have been more polished over the mic and respectful. That's how you build a fan base.

Hurd can be beat because his skills are unpolished without having the amateur pedigree but whoever beats him will have to go to hell for 36 minutes. No idea who has that kind of heart. Love him. Good call dude.

Agree. I like Hurd a lot. His chin is incredible, but i am worried what will hapen when he meet stronger puncher. I can´t imagine him to take that clean shots from GGG, Canelo or Charlos. But he has style to punish Lara IMO.

I don't mean to start any unfounded rumors but does anyone else think it's rather odd that the Charlo's are all of a sudden knocking everyone out? And knocking everyone out with some punches that don't appear to be anything special. I am not sure what kind of PED testing the Charlo's have been up against but something does smell a little funny to me.

Hurd's head is gigantic too. Imagine hitting that anvil all night long? Forget it. Charlo vs. Hurd would be a dandy though... Hurd will have to win it similarly to the way he beat Trout but obviously a much tougher fight for Hurd. I think Hurd will be down big on cards late and will have to get a ko or late kd's to get the win.

Jermall has always been a ko puncher. They're both in the wbc program that's all year long. For whatever that is worth. I'm sure if you spend the right money for the right chemistry you can still get by. Surprising, and encouraging for the testers, that povetkin is so lazy with his. It's not like jermell is a pudgy mid 30's heavy all if a sudden sleeping durable guys. He's young, could just be learning to sit down on his shots better. He has to training with Spence. Lol, I've heard from more than one fighter that nobody goes as hard as Errol.

I hate that I think PED's right away...just can't help it these days. I just find it strange that Jermell struggles by Martirosyan and then fires long time trainer and opens a gym and now both brothers are knocking everyone out. Jermell is the obvious one to me. He had only had 1 knockout in a 6 fight stretch back in years 2103-2015 and that was against garbage opposition.

Then he leaves Shields and all of a sudden, his brother bumps up to MW and both boxers are putting people to sleep with punches that aren't even landing as flush as they could be landed. Just saying man. Something appears to have happened when the Charlo's split their camps up...not sure what but something. Boxers aren't supposed to get ten times better after leaving a trainer like Shields. It's usually the other way around.

I don't discount any modern athlete being on peds. Trainers wouldn't make nearly as much difference as grinding with Spence every day.

I wonder if part of the reason for splitting camp is because he may end up facing Lara? It makes no sense to continue to spar with a guy that may be an opponent in the next year. He also got an opportunity to bring Spence into spar, which to me is when he really made a big improvement. Lara has got to be irritating as hell to spar with....but will help your cardio I guess.

Peds? Lets accuse the guys that refuse to go into the year-long random testing program first.

I wouldn't rule out Haymon manipulating these fights because he's desperate to create sellable stars. Could these be rigged fraud knockouts? All the participants are in house under HIS CONTROL.

Jermall haven't stopped anybody known for a decent chin. He couldn't hurt Trout who was just dispatched by Hurd.
