Dude I'm not saying he can BEAT Murray. I'm just saying I'd like to see him fight those types and see how he does. Jesus tapdancing Christ calm down.

And I still think that Cox sucks.gilgamesh wrote:Yeah I forget it's Horse I'm talking to. Every British fighter is 4 times as good as they actually are in Horse's eyes.

Cox gave it more of a go against groves than Murray did for me.

To be honest I dont think Horse watches boxing. His tv has 4 channels, BBC1 BBC2 ITV and Channel 4.

Stop overrating him.gilgamesh wrote:Nothing.

He does not belong at that level even as a punching bag.
Re: Where now for Jamie Cox
gave it a go but well outclassed and stopped early. i thought murray won 3 rounds against groves and he was more durable.

He quit as soon as he got hit.TheLeprechaun wrote:Cox gave it more of a go against groves than Murray did for me.
He flapped his arms around for 3.5 rounds and people act like he achieved something.
Re: Where now for Jamie Cox
ya i noticed he did get to feet and walked back to corner as soon as counted out. didnt want anymore of it. murray never went down and took the count.

Re: Where now for Jamie Cox
Murray didn't show the belief and grit that cox showed for me. Murray comes in to last the distance and take no risks. Cox was taking shots to land his and putting pressure on. He was losing but he caught groves probably with more punches than Murray did in their entire fightjamamb wrote:gave it a go but well outclassed and stopped early. i thought murray won 3 rounds against groves and he was more durable.

I'm pretty sure that isn't true.TheLeprechaun wrote:He was losing but he caught groves probably with more punches than Murray did in their entire fight
Re: Where now for Jamie Cox
He's a decent fighter but it wasn't just one minor mistake. Groves clipped him in the same spot with about 1:47 seconds left in round 4. It hurt Cox & he holds. Rather than back up to get his breath he wades back in &, because Groves knows he has him hurt there, gets caught with the same shot - but harder - at around 1:33 left.horndawg80 wrote:Where now for Jamie? I'm a massive Jamie Cox advocate so hopefully he'll be back on Matchrom soon. Maybe David Brophy or Luke Blackledge? Then John Ryder?
Hopefully Eddie liked what he saw last night. I know he got stopped but I thought he was decent. One minor mistake which cost him
He's fought at above Middle for over six years now so he'd need a drastic change in lifestyle to get down to Middle in his 30's (it can be done). I can't see him beating any of the top six at 168.
He had a good pop last night but I can't see a rosy future for him unless he completely revamps his regime & can perform well at Middle.
Best of luck to him.

Re: Where now for Jamie Cox
Rematch with Groves in the gym then we'll see who's the daddy....
Re: Where now for Jamie Cox
I enjoyed the fight while it lasted, but I saw nothing to suggest that Cox is anything like world class.
He appeared to land more clean shots with his head that anything else, but also seemed to get hurt by every shot Groves landed.
I'm not putting him down as there was no shortage of effort and he made the fight more entertaining than I expected it to be.
But if he wants another shot he needs to get a couple good wins at domestic/European level, someone of the ilk of Fielding, Ryder, Rebrasse would be a good start (though I'm not convinced he would beat any of them).
But given that he is with Hearn he will probably beat a couple journeymen and then get thrown in again and will we see another brave losing effort.

Re: Where now for Jamie Cox
These days it seems that every boxer needs to be "world class" or "world level", I don't get it - its just not possible.
Is it possible to be a full-time boxer who operates at British title level?
What would you earn for a British title fight? - 2 or 3 fights a year, after all expenses doesn't leave you with a lot.

all my points are true mate. hes beaten no one of note and got kod in 3.5 when he stepped up. would like to see him fighting at commonwealth or brit level. best win prob over english level guy moving up or a tough but journeyman argie and he was hardly impressive.

Cox deserves at least an eliminator for the British title after this

Re: Where now for Jamie Cox
If you watch the fight again, Cox applied a lot of pressure and buzzed Groves once or twice (although not hurt). He got caught with a beauty of a punch..... Did you see Groves's face after the fight?
I think Jamie's lack of big fight experience cost him as he over-extended and I think he should be put in with Hadillah Mohoumadi (after EBU fight) or Shiller Hyppolite. Get him on the Haye-Bellew II card.
I agree, he did a lot better than Murray and is more than event fighter (which people want to see) rather than safety first. In my opinion, he beats Ryder, Fielding, Parker, Yildrim, Brophy et al.

Groves always marks up badly, even after sparring. I wouldn’t put too much into that.horndawg80 wrote:If you watch the fight again, Cox applied a lot of pressure and buzzed Groves once or twice (although not hurt). Re: Where now for Jamie Cox
Honestly I was impressed by his character in the build up to the fight, Confident and likeable character, didn't perform as well as I'd hoped he would but he'll bounce back from this without a doubt.
just considering British level bouts first, since they wouldn't be bad for him after coming out of the super series, Darryll Williams is the reigning English champion and a clash between the pair would be a good watch or at the same time a return match against Cello Renda would be a good comeback fight.

Re: Where now for Jamie Cox
Cox got destroyed like a low level journeyman, but now he's rated more highly than ever.
There's something very wrong here.
