I saw this fight live and have never seen it since. I remember it was a wild, great fight.
If I remember correctly, Boza-Edwards was having a big first round and then Chacon knocked him down right at the end of the round, making it a 10-8 round for Chacon instead of 10-9 (maybe even 10-8) for Boza Edwards. I could be mixing this part up with another fight.
Has anyone seen this? I haven't heard people talk about it much and thought that was odd since it was such a great fight.
Boza Edwards-Chacon II
Re: Boza Edwards-Chacon II
Bobby Chacon is one of the guys that got me hooked on boxing... in the early 80s when I was about 13 I sent off for Chacons fights against Limon 4 and Edwards 2 after reading about them in The Ring and I havent looked back since... still watch them regualrly though I have 100s of fights now... I think Chacons bouts against Boza and Limon are still in the top 5 of fights that I've ever seen or am likely to see... both men were awesome warriors... damn you were lucky seeing that fight live!!!... 8)Ambling Alp wrote:I saw this fight live and have never seen it since. I saw Chacon and Boza Edwards a few other times. (This was when you could see fights on Network TV!) I didn't see Lopez-Cacon or either Boza-Edwards or Chacon fight Limon.
Did I remember accurately about the first round of Chacon-Boza Edward in the 2nd fight? Was Boza Edwards winning the round until he knocked down at the end? It was 24 years ago so I'm not sure if that is what happened. If it did, the fight probably would have been a draw instead of a win for Chacon.
